Residents of Eastern NS should prepare for sustained power outages. It’s time to make sure you have enough food, water, medicine for at least 72 hours. Public Safety Canada has a checklist for your emergency kit: 
Now’s a good time to check your property. Secure any loose items, cut down dead tree limbs, take in BBQs and lawn furniture.
It’s also a good idea to have some cash on hand since debit machines and ATMs will not be working if power outages are prolonged.
