Ultrasound only detects density and motion. It cannot detect any electrical activity at all. This is a scientific fact.
It is true that the valves in the heart develop later.
However, the cardiac muscles that are located in the embryological heart are contracting. They are in fact moving inward and outward. That is how you define a beat.
If the beat the same as a fully grown adult beat? Of course not. We're talking early and biological development. However, the cardiac tissue is contracting, which is literally what a beat is. To say otherwise is scientific misinformation, and cannot be treated otherwise.
I recommend @GlennKesslerWP you largely delete this post, completely correct it with somebody who knows the science and actually understands what they are talking about, and issue an apology because this is really a pathetic scientific document.
I can't believe I have to report a fact checker to Twitter for misinformation. This is what we've come to.
Here is a science primer for people that want to understand how ultrasound works, from the NCBI.
NOTE THAT THEY NEVER DISCUSS ELECTRICAL ACTIVITY IN THE BODY.
I used to have a great diagram for patients on this, but I can't seem to find it.
Ultrasound probes, called transducers, produce sound waves that have frequencies above the threshold of human hearing (above 20KHz), but most transducers in current use operate at much higher frequencies (in the megahertz (MHz) range).
Functional ultrasound combines information such as the movement and velocity of tissue or blood, softness or hardness of tissue, and other physical characteristics, with anatomical images to create “information maps.”
@staceyabrams...if you wish to be educated, I'd be more than happy to show you the actual heartbeat of a six week old fetus. Its not an imaginary thing, no matter how much you want it to be.
And look how Democrats are perfectly happy with @staceyabrams spreading scientific misinformation to young people (who are nodding along, even though they are being told a lie).
Apparently misinformation only matters when it is inconvenient?
Is the fetal heart fully developed? OF COURSE NOT. But it is still contracting, in the process of its development.
I could go through the embryology of this...but I hated embryology. Note that by five weeks, the fetal heart has four chambers, an aortic tract, and contracts.
If the Biden administration isn't following the science, then they are no better than the Trump administration (this comes as little surprise to most of us).
Democrats: "Well, he is not a Nazi, because of GARBLE GARBLE GARBLE REASONS!"
"Lesser and his Dem government in El Paso have been sending migrants to the sanctuary city for weeks – and asking the Biden administration to front the bill."
Great! Lets all get Biden to fund these buses! That would save Texas and Florida money!
