Since we’re on that fine dining tip, lemme end this review session with one more fine dining restaurant🙃

📍Botanica - One Africa Place, Westlands

For those who don’t know, Botanica took over from Honey & dough which we can all agree was really disappointing. #nairobieats
They rebranded and I feel like they’re going for a more gastro/fine dining route & it’s working for them from the experience we had.

They have quite a vibrant menu, I had the chicken curry bao buns as a starter while my lovely date @DushyKuria had the duck breast carpaccio
For mains I had the fish & chips, she had the Nasi Goreng & for dessert, they made her a special not for carrot cake plate for her birthday while I had the Latte sundae:) #nairobieats
Out of all these - I loved the steamed buns so much! That chicken curry was spiced perfectly and the whole bun wasn’t too dry because some places really get bao buns wrong👌🏾 The fish & chips was good too, the batter thankfully not too thick. #nairobieats
The latte sundae is coffee flavoured and has bits of chocolate cake in it, coffee ice cream and some kind of mousse… so good😋 #nairobieats
The prices are a tad steep - mains range from 1800-3500, starters are all 1000+, desserts range from 700-900. The service was really great, they did change up the decor just a bit but it still looks very much like honey & dough (I love the decor😍) -just better food for sure👌🏾
They did up our table for @DushyKuria’s birthday so well people thought there was a proposal coming😅 She really enjoyed the cocktails and her bday dessert below:) #nairobieats
Overall rating:

Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ambience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wamejiredeem from the struggle that was Honey & Dough lol #nairobieats

📍 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰

It’s about that time again, time to share my top restaurants of the year😊 It’s been a great year for eateries & this list is solely based on what I enjoyed the most, doesn’t mean the rest aren’t worthy pls lol

1. Jamrock: one of my best finds this year, this small but vibey eatery had my heart with their rich Caribbean flavours! The grilled tilapia with plantains & the Jamrock special had me coming back again & again. The bashment vibes on a Friday night are also unmatched💃🏾 #top2024 Image

📍𝙁𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙨

This fine dining restaurant is located at Galana plaza in the heart of Kilimani. It’s a French cuisine restaurant with an additional African flare to all their dishes. #nairobieats Image
A hostess meets you at the door when you enter to direct you to your table, I found the place quite inviting - warm lighting, ambient music and well spaced seating so it doesn’t look too cramped. #nairobieats Image
For a fine dining restaurant I felt like their decor and furniture was quite dated, giving it a more aged feel as opposed to luxury… I think they need to spruce it up a bit to match their brand and their prices. #nairobieats

Today’s review is a sweet one🍨

📍 𝙎𝙣𝙤 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢 - 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙖 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙩

If you haven’t gone to Sno Cream & you live in Nairobi, I need you to go there now. Like right now. Close that laptop & head there so you can have the classic Sno Cream experience. #nairobieats Image
Sno Cream is possibly the oldest ice cream parlour in Kenya & actually has a branch in Dar es Salaam that is just as old & still in operation as well. It was opened in 1958🙊 by a British man who soon sold it to an Indian family in the 1960s #nairobieats Image
It’s been a family run business ever since.

I’ve been going to Sno Cream from a very young age, I can’t recall a Sunday afternoon that went by without an ice cream cone in my hand. My parents have been going to Sno Cream since back in the day too😄 #nairobieats

I’m early today, yay!

📍Silk Noodles - Shanshui Hotel, Kilimani

Been itching to try this place for ages so when @_wangwe decided to be outside, this became our very belated lunch plan:) The location isn’t hard to find thanks to the big sign right at the entrance. #nairobieats Image
Ambience wise the place is nothing to write home about which is PERFECT because it means they’re putting all their focus in the food😉 #nairobieats Image
We got started with some chicken dumplings (1000/), I didn’t know that an order of dumplings meant we get 20 of them😮‍💨 I’m so used to the 6 we get at Japanese restaurants lol… #nairobieats Image

First review of the year!

📍The Spring Noshery- @SaritYourCity

The Spring Noshery has been on my list for a while but I don’t frequent Sarit Centre often so never got a chance to visit until just recently. It’s located in the new wing, 2nd floor I believe. #nairobieats
They have a wider breakfast menu and a more limited lunch/dinner menu. I wanted to try their crepes (750/) because you don’t find crepes in most restaurants, it’s usually just pancakes. My friend had their signature Belgian waffle (850/) #nairobieats
The crepes were so good & filling! I didn’t think I’d be full because thin pancakes can only do so much but four of them stuffed with strawberries & Nutella plus a side of bacon… that’s quite a meal😅 love that they added raspberries & blueberries too, always here for more fruit

Talking about a great gem today…

📍Unseen Nairobi - Kilimani

A rooftop cinema, cafe AND bar, Unseen was a fantastic find and it’s become a place I visit often when I need a change of work scenery:) #nairobieats
Had a nice little date here with @DushyKuria one time and we really enjoyed the food there. We had the pork bao buns, kimchi grilled cheese sandwich, potato croquettes & Korean fried chicken (my fave!). #nairobieats
Loved the Korean chicken and the bao buns the best, so flavourful, so filling! The kimchi sandwich was a bit too salty for both of us😬 #nairobieats
