"NoAadhar-NoAdmissions" is affecting many children seeking admns in govt schools; & as many are migrants in #Jawaharnagar slums, they've no supportive docs to get one.
PFA a circular from Sept'18 - about #Aadhar & the entitlements it shouldn't deny. @ceo_uidai@UIDAIHyderabad 1/n
A month ago when we visited a local govt school, we saw some children (migrated from Karnataka) come there for an admission. They have their Aadhar made in Karnataka, but they were still denied an admission. Why, one may wonder?! 2/n
When any child (until Std VIII) seeks an admsn in govt schools, their Aadhar no. is entered in the *studentinfo* govt-portal online, & depending on their previous academic records, an admsn is given. When Aadhar nos. from other States are entered, no records are displayed! 3/n
In such cases, the schools ask for a DoB. Only from our direct tracking, we've 250+ kids without an Aadhar & over 500+ children without DoB. We work with families who are struggling to access these legal identities, and are losing out on their basic rights in the process. 4/n
As we've been working with the local govt schools for a while now, we request them to admit the child & later try to facilitate for their Aadhar enrollment. However, because the families dont have any supportive docs, doing this on a case to base basis is a daunting task. 5/n
This is a systemic violation of the child's fundamental Right to Free & Compulsory Education Act & even goes against the Supreme Court guidelines that no individual must be denied their basic entitlements for the want of an Aadhar number. 6/n
Requesting a strong convergence betwn all relevant depts to facilitate regular Aadhar enrollment drives in both Schools and Anganwadis throughout, especially during admissions, so that no child is deprived of their basic rights or runs from pillar to post for the want of it. 7/7.

From a dear friend: The open bed in front of the houses symbolises that they're open to "Dehvyaapaar", as they call it.
This community celebrates the birth of a girl, but for all the wrong reasons!
By 12-14 yrs, she's prepped for commercial sexual exploitation. 1/n
Predominantly found on the State highways, there are 13 such communities across India who follow the practise of caste-based sex work. These girls who are groomed from a young age become the breadwinners of the family, and manage 3-5 clients per day. 2/n
At the prime of their youth, these girls are also trafficked abroad & are sent back once they're old. If a family from this community doesn't have a girl, they kidnap/adopt/buy/traffick girls from other communities at the age of 2-3 and start grooming them for this profession.3/n
