those warts meant a lot of people had first impressions of the #cyberpunk fictional world--which is the imaginary landscape of a significant sector of my psychic real estate--which didn't do it justice. I really enjoyed #CyberpunkEdgerunners, was glued to it the first weekend /2
it was streamin, but thought maybe it would be too weird or too anime to really hit. It looks like I was wrong about that. Thankfully, on top of being exactly the kind of story that the #cyberpunk ttrpg has always excelled at, a heady mixture of nihilism & idealism combining /3
hong kong action, film noir existentialism, japanese crime & punishment, punk rock social/political commentary, & dystopian desperation with a strong dose of doomed romance, #Edgerunners seems to have found its audience & people who had written it off are giving @CyberpunkGame /4
are giving it a second look according to the inside baseball gamer journalists like this. Apparently thanks to #CyberpunkEdgerunners, #NightCityLives /5
I really hope that this portends good things for Mike Pondsmith & Co. at @RTalsorianGames. Honestly I feel like we're living in a world that needs the heightened dismal chaos of #cyberpunk to meaningfully satyrize & reflect the absurdity & depredatiom we live with. and we need /6
thsy kind of reflection tobbe sble to see the world we live in for the fun house mirror of human frailty it has become. And also i am stoked like a teenage fanclub member who got an exclusive 7" single in the mail that we there could be many more stories set in #NightCity to come
