Myself and 5 other candidates were told today we are officially excluded from the upcoming CBC televised debate. #wpg22
My response:
"I am greatly disappointed in CBC’s decision to exclude numerous candidates from their upcoming televised debate, based solely on one poll.

"This goes directly against CBC's mandate in many ways - to inform, reflect the regional and cultural diversity of Canada, and contribute to the development of a shared national consciousness.
“CBC's decision means no women and no Black people will be involved in this debate."
"This is unconscionable and does not reflect the diversity of Winnipeg, Manitoba or Canada.
“I understand CBC's concern to avoid the often silly antics of the last televised mayoral debate."
"However, this time around, every candidate is sincere in their desire to be mayor and most have been campaigning through the summer.
“Nearly 40 per cent of people are undecided, and are being denied the opportunity to see more than half of the candidates."
“To leave out six of the total candidates is exclusionary and further marginalizes voices desperately needed in this race. To do this just to make good TV is an abysmal standard.
"I expect CBC to adhere to their mandate."
“I suggest resolving this in one of two ways: Either allow everyone to participate in the debate and extend the time frame, or hold two debates on back-to-back nights, with a randomly-drawn assortment of candidates for each debate.”
