What Oklahoma football is currently experiencing is eerily similar to what Nebraska football went through for the last 5 years.
First - Hope / Belief in what’s new and a throwback to the ways of the old
Second - Accusing extraneous factors for its shortcomings (young players/previous players)
What is potentially to come: blame Assistant coaches, AD’s, the Conference etc., etc.
The reality is the last time TCU beat OU was in 2014 when Bob fired Heupel (now a successful HC at Tennessee) and retained his brother Mike. He hired a young OC from ECU named Lincoln Riley who resurrected the program and saved Bob’s job and reputation.
Shortly after, Bob deliberately resigned at the perfect time to get Riley hired long term as the HC. Riley was then tasked with being forced to do the job Bob could never do: Fire Mike Stoops.
But keep telling yourself that Lincoln was the problem….
When OU fans SHOULD be asking this question since Nov. 28, 2021:
Why did the OU athletic department not do everything it took to keep Lincoln Riley?
If Brent Venables a successful coordinator with zero HC experience is worth $7m + per year, how is Lincoln Riley not worth beating USC’s $10m per year offer?
Yet OU fans spent time pointing out how Riley couldn’t win in a 4-team playoff.
Boy, a playoff looks nice now, doesn’t it?
Sincerely,
Chronically Abused Nebraska Fan

Can we all agree that CFB QB’s should stop sliding and fall forward on the ground in the open field?
Allow me to explain:
1 - Falling forward gains you yardage vs. Sliding moves you back to when you give yourself up. Football is a game of inches and falling forward gains you at least 1/2 yard.
2 - Sliding exposes your chin / neck / under ear area and back of your head getting slammed to the turf (a la Tua) if you’re hit. These are the most common locations of contact for concussions. Yes, a sliding QB SHOULDN’T get hit, but it happens.
