Social media is suggesting I was “attacked” as I tried to get into #CPC2022. I was not. I was directed wrongly right into the middle of the protest. I think the protesters thought I was deliberately provoking them. But no one touched me. Just shouted abuse. They were just loud!
One protester tried to blow a plastic horn in my ear while i was walking. I asked him to stop, but he refused. So I grabbed his horn and threw it away. I think he was more shocked than me!
So for clarity, I was not pushed or shoved, nor did I fall over. As far as I could see, the crowd was noisy but self disciplined. We live in a democracy and people have every right to protest.
In the end, several police officers escorted me through the crowd and into the Conference.

..and makes factual errors in her report. This is not the British system of Justice.
I did not vote as to whether Owen Paterson is guilty or not. That will be decided by, I hope, a fairer and more accurate system which takes evidence from both sides. And if he is still found……
..found guilty, so be it. But Justice not only has to be done, it has to be seen to be done.
Yesterday, I voted for a House of Commons Select Committee to be established to determine a fairer, more just, way of judging MPs. Just having……

In 2016, a law was passed saying that if an MP is arrested, he/she cannot be named unless charged with a crime. Only 1 MP voted against. Nor can they be suspended because they’d then be named or identified.
A load of fake outrage from MPs who did not vote against the 2016 rule.
Anyway, in THIS country, you are innocent until proven guilty.
Needless to say, but I will, Jesse Phillips screaming for the MP to be named and suspended did NOT vote against the legislation in 2016.
