There's an arrogance about the Ukrainian response here that's pretty remarkable

They act like they are simply entitled to the West's support, and that anyone who advocates anything less than Russia's unconditional surrender is an appeaser
America's primary interest is in avoiding a nuclear war with Russia

Don't like it, @MelnykAndrij? Then do without all the money and military aid we send you

You're the ones who got into a war you couldn't win on your own, you don't get to dictate terms to us
In many ways the war has gotten far more dangerous for the world now that Putin is retreating

Is anyone in NATO even thinking about how to create an off-ramp - a way for Putin to withdraw from Ukraine that still allows him to save face?
It would be one thing if Ukraine had simple beaten Putin on their own, without Western assistance

But the monetary value of the aid we've sent to Ukraine exceeds the yearly budget of the entire Russian military

If we beat Putin, we're on the hook for how to resolve matters
This is the underpants gnomes theory of Russian statecraft

Step 1: Force Putin to withdraw from Ukraine
Step 2: ????????
Step 3: Putin quietly resigns as Russian President

Some blue-check pointing and sputtering here

Obsessing over semantics while not addressing the fundamental point

We are Ukraine's benefactor, they do not get to dictate terms to us Image
"What, you don't think that Ukraine is a perfectly innocent paragon of goodness, and that Vladimir Putin is evil incarnate?"

No, lol
It's like these people have exactly one historical analogy they understand

I think Elon actually laid out a pretty good off-ramp

Russia keeps Crimea, UN-supervised referendums in the "annexed" territories, Ukraine neutrality

Likely outcome is status quo ante, Russia unlikely to get any further territory, Putin could sell it

"You can't negotiate with an evil nuclear power! You have to confront them, and just like a weak bully, they'll be scared off!"

Tell that to JFK

It wasn't his "resolve" that got the Russians to pull nukes out of Cuba

It was him agreeing to pull American nukes out of Turkey
The "evil lunatic who can't be negotiated with" is the exception, not the rule

As the corporate world moves further and further left, the right needs to lean in and build an industry around right-wing plaintiff's lawyering
Part of that is by creating new rights of action and the federal and state level that are targeted at left-wing abuses

Censorship and trans surgery are just two places to start
If you write a law (like Texas did) that creates a right of action for wronged conservative citizens - and then guarantees attorney fees if they prevail in court - you have built the foundation for conservative plaintiff's attorneys to build their own practice

The left really wants to pretend that Georgia Meloni saying "God, Family, Country" is some kind of fascist slogan

It's not. It's just *not liberal*.
Sorry that "The individual, the invididual, the individual" isn't persuasive
I guess the liberal formulation really is "the bureaucrats, the experts, and the atomized individual"

I mean the real answer is that the top floor of the FBI took out Richard Nixon, leaking about Nixon's in-house black bag jobs when the FBI had been doing black bag jobs for decades
Hey look it's Deep Throat, the guy who leaked on Nixon's black-bag jobs

Turns out he was convicted for authorizing FBI black-bag jobs
The real way to understand the history of the FBI is this:

Under Hoover, it was a criminal organization

Between Carter and Bush 43, it was a bumbling police force

When Trump was elected, it reverted to form

One simple policy to weaken the power of universities:

Prohibit employers from discriminating on the basis of educational attainment beyond a high school degree
There are many questions employers are not allowed to ask prospective employees

This would make things quite straightforward
How many people would get a college degree if they couldn't mention it in a job interview?

Exactly.
