Dragons don’t easily allow new riders to claim them, especially dragons like Vhagar who are nearly 200 years old, have known several riders, and have spent many stretches of their lives roaming freely.
Before Aemond, Vhagar was ridden by Queen Visenya (Aegon the Conqueror’s sister-wife & the wielder of Daemon's sword Dark Sister), Viserys & Daemon’s father Prince Baelon Targaryen, & Laena Velaryon, each of whom had to prove their bravery in order to claim her. #HouseOfTheDragon
The Valyrian blood of Aemond certainly played a part in his ability to claim Vhagar, but it may have also be connected to the blood he shares with Baelon, Vhagar’s rider before Laena. 🐉
The idea of #Namor being a god likely isn’t meant to be taken literally. However, it can serve to add to his character by exploring the historical context of the terminology. Mesoamerican culture is likely going to be a big part of Namor’s character.
First & foremost, what needs to be discussed is what the Feathered Serpent God is supposed to be. The Feathered Serpent was a prominent figure in Mesoamerican religions, with all versions being some sort of winged serpent with ties to the sky and weather.
