I'd suggest a 21st century reboot of #PuLa's Mhais here, but given who is ruling Maharashtra these days, it'll end with Usman Sheth, his daughter, and Idrus miyaan being arrested by cops as soon as they reach the spot.

This event showed the difference between how experienced Biden is at big league politics and how unprepared DeSantis is, staying confined to his bubbles. The optics of this whole event show Joe looking relaxed and presidential & Ron like a local comptroller there to greet him.
Fifty years in politics teaches you to know where the cameras and hot mics are without gawking straight at them like Modi or Trump. It becomes second nature, almost. But you can't learn it without being out in the field. DeSantis has followed a bizarre strategy for 2024.
Trump, say what you will about him, was out there everywhere talking to anyone who will talk to him in 2015 and early 2016. Liberal media too. Even now he talks to NYT so much. And he had 35 years of experience with cameras & mics & the press.
In his presidency, he bubbled up.
That in the Marketing, Society, & Sustainability class, we did a deep dive into all the different ESG scores and indices. And the students were able to identify the structural flaws easily. Especially the MSCI scores. Especially their being peer-based.
Such a huge flaw!
Rating firms relative to peers, and using bond rating style AAA-CCC range means that some firms will ALWAYS get AAA even if they are doing little to be better for the planet. As long as they aren't as bad as the worse ones, they are golden!
Then of course, they saw the problem with the E,S,& G being clubbed together into a cumulative score where one can offset the other. So as long as you have great corporate governance, you can pollute easily and still get a good overall rating. Which is what's happening a lot.
Fun fact. Gaikwad literally translates to "Cow Door", cos that was the community's original hereditary profession. Managing the cattle doors of a fort & the supervision of cattle when they grazed nearby. Like many Maratha warriors, their roots lay in tending cattle.
I've probably known more Marathi folks named Thakur than Gaikwad. It's a reasonably common name in Maharashtra. Just not exclusive to Marathis like Gaikwad.
Just heard in three separate faculty meetings about how the number of Chinese applications remains worryingly low. Not just in quantity but also quality. And that any further declines will start hitting student body metrics. Trumpism's effect.
US consulates in India otoh are seeing applications at a level they have never experienced before. Even in tourist visas. Turns out that despite pioneering cutting edge groundbreaking tech, Modi-5G can't stop people from wanting to get out of India while they still can.
I love how participative American democracy is. It is so easy to volunteer to make a difference in whatever way you feel the most comfortable. Having seen the insides of how the Democratic party ground machine operates, I'll say it's quite the complex and thriving organism!
You can just sit around consuming 24/7 content on oh the Dems are so weak on messaging and wimps and whatever that makes you sound like a CNN audition.
Or you can remember you too are a Democrat and actually do something concrete like volunteer/donate.
It is VERY easy to volunteer, in whatever way you can, for campaigns. You don't necessarily have to go door to door. You can call. Or text. Or write letters.
Feel uncomfortable convincing people to vote? No problem. Just do reminder or info outreach to Democrats only. Etc etc.
It was so cool to see him return as this total superstar. So grown up! Still remember this mostly quiet shy student who would present with such an easy rhythm. Ideal student. So proud. Hope to see you back more often. Maybe in BT403 one day. 😁
Come to think of it, my career kinda peaked "claim to fame" wise in 2015. Being the Marketing professor of MKBHD is probably going to be my biggest claim to fame forever, lol. Not that I pretend to have any significant hand in his success. Dude was a polished product from start!
That's me! That's me! He's talking about me! :D
The course is called Marketing Strategy in a Digital World. Was very heavy on social media & tech marketing case studies. And yeah, I asked him if he wanted to kinda "teach" some tricks but he was happy in the background.
