The episode seemingly boiled Mexican culture down to sombreros, maracas, tacos, and "Juan" jokes. buzzfeed.com/angelicaamarti…
Earlier this week, Prue Leith took to Twitter to announce that the Great British Bake Off's theme for their next episode would be "Mexican week."
Yeah, yikes 😅
It's not that I don't think it's possible to do an episode like this with appreciation and respect for the culture, but I was fairly certain that wasn't the direction #GBBO would be going.
Does anyone remember "Japanese week"???
The episode was just released to watch in the US on Netflix on Friday, so I was really hoping to give them the benefit of the doubt here.
Then, I saw the cold open that the show's official Twitter account posted. Yeah, it's not looking good, folks.
Clips from the episode made their way online, and the stereotypes and racist humor don't stop there. It's more than a little disappointing to see a week that's supposed to be appreciating Mexican culture boiled down to maracas, sombreros, and "Juan" jokes.
So many questions! Like why are they making tacos when there are tons of delicious Mexican baked treats And why is Paul Hollywood talking about tacos like he's an expert when that is, at best, an unseasoned taco you'd see on the menu at a bougie place in the city for like $10??
If you're a #GBBO fan, have you seen this week's Mexican-themed episode yet? What are your thoughts on the series' recent cultural episode?
Can you tell I'm excited for Hocus Pocus 2? Yesterday we got to find out what the Sanderson sisters would do if they were brought back to life for a SECOND time.
I imagine much the same as the first time – kissing boys, flying on hoovers, and sucking the lives out of innocent children!
When Chadwick Boseman passed away in 2020, Marvel fans weren't sure what that meant for the future of Black Panther.
But one thing was for sure — whatever happened in the MCU had to honor Chadwick's legacy.
Marvel CEO Kevin Feige says that's exactly what they set out to do in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever — and no one ever had any intentions of replacing Chadwick.
"It just felt like it was much too soon to recast," Kevin told Empire in a recent interview.

When it comes to certain items, it doesn't really matter if you buy the cheaper version — think store brand versus name brand — to save a buck. Other times, the difference in price actually makes a huge difference — some may even say a life-changing difference.
Redditor u/Bellabuns_xo asked: "What's something you used to be cheap on, until you tried a high-quality version, and now you can't go back?" Let's just say I haven't thought of a lot of these until now and now I'm taking notes. Here are some of the responses.
