I just finished watching #TeamSolberg on Discovery+. The entertainment value is guaranteed. It's eight episodes of ~42 minutes on @OliverSolberg01's eventful 2021 season. #WRC
You don't have to be an Oliver fan to enjoy this reality TV show. Being a #WRC fan helps. The show gives interesting peeks behind the scenes, not just the Solbergs, but WRC rallying in general too. Being a rally fan helps putting the things represented in right perspective.
If it still was unclear to someone, with Oliver you don't get just a driver, you get mum and dad as well. They are a tight unit that travel together, work together and also live together. Oliver was planning to move to a house across the yard and that seemed hard to Pernilla.
The show represents Oliver as the next big thing in World Rallying. It's also emotionally open when the mistakes come - and the mistakes come in plural. Funny to notice almost everytime Oliver blames the car at first for anything that goes wrong.
It's good to remember this is a reality show and not a documentary. If the viewer don't know rallying, the image given can be misleading. Like Monza 2021 Sunday morning, "Oliver is just mere seconds behind in 5th" whereas he was 80 seconds behind. Driving well, that's true.
Ogier took his 8th title in 2021 in his last full season. The subtitle says: "The throne is now prepared for a new driver."
In its 8 episodes and over 5 hours lenght, Kalle Rovanperä does not get a single mention or is never shown in the footage of #TeamSolberg. Makes you think.
