@CorsIAQ. It is not going to require rocket science to improve IAQ. We have the tools to do it now. If we do it we will get better health outcomes. We need to make sure we don't leave any community behind. We need accessible tech for IAQ.

@ShellyMBoulder We need to regulate IAQ as a public good like water (YES!!!). Once we view it as a public good the answers are there. We need standards, regulations and enforcement just like we do for water. We have the tools, we don't have framework to implement the changes.3/
Kevin Cho. Awair. The average person doesn't know how to interpret IAQ data. Digital transformation has made IAQ sensors much cheaper. Need to connect IT and building management organizations.

Scott Frank. Awareness. CO2 monitors: how many are in the room: answer five. The real estate industry is quiet efficient. If the users are asking more about the built environment the industry will respond. We need the equivalent of "See something, say something."

@ShellyMBoulder. King's County, WA. No of the homeless shelters had ventilation. UV was the only option for these. Very little UV for air, but lots of UV for water. We know how 254 nm works. Guidelines were published in 2009 for health care facilities. Where are they?

@CorsIAQ. Affordability. We leave a lot of Americans behind if we only push new tech. #corsirosenthalboxes history. They can work 1.5-2.5 more effective than commercial HEPA at 1/5 of the price. They have educational benefits when used in schools.

Scott Frank. Outside air is energy intensive (dehumidified and cooled, or humidified and heated). We have mature technologies to address this (heat recovery/energy recovery units, HRV/ERV).

@ShellyMBoulder. We need infrastructure around training around implementing solutions that we already know work (i.e. Germicidal UV). We don't have enough people to design them. We need investments in the training and oversight in existing technology.

Scott Frank. The importance of standards is vital to the market. The process is of consensus standards if very long (FACT Check: A YUP!). People can drag out the process on purpose to negative effect. Agencies need to accelerate the standard making process.

@CorsIAQ. Relative to other fields IAQ funding research has been anemic. Outdoor AQ is the result of the clean air act. The standards we have now look nothing like what we had. It took 50 years to get to where we are for outdoor air quality.

@CorsIAQ Need interdisciplinary innovation hubs. Chemists, Engineers, behavior, (many others typing too slow). These hubs move towards developing a new clean indoor air act.

Taryn Williams. Ass. Secretary of Labor for Disability Employment Policy. Improving IAQ in schools, homes and workplaces is an issue of equity (YES). Those who vulnerable are more likely to be affected by poor IAQ.

Kenneth Mendez. Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. 25 Million Americans have Asthma and 4,000 people die per year (1:13 people). 5 Million children. Asthma is leading cause of missed school days. Cost is up to $82 billion (?). Need better IAQ to reduce triggers.

- Clark County has 10,000 homeless students.
- Marroro. Funding and policy. Has spent $25 million on IAQ (MERV 13 filtration as standard and IAQ monitoring). What happens when money ends? Filters need to exchanged. 2/
- Marroro. Some relief funds have been used for things like bus drivers to alleviate shortage. Need to move IAQ changes into policy so it becomes part of regular funding.

- Filtration (air cleaning) has the shortest history. Only 50-100 years use in buildings. 1/
- ASHRAE standard 52.2 for filtration is only 23 years old.
- Measured CO2 and PM2.5 decay in a classroom that was supposed to be operated at 6 air changes per hour with ventilation and filtration. But it was actually at ~2 air change per hour.

- Why does filtration fail to meet goals?
- Issue #1. Air has to get to the filter. For central heating homes the recirculating rate can range from 2-8 when the fan is on. BUT the fan can often only 20% of the time, with HUGE variation on the run time.
