With the announcement the Coronation of His Majesty The King will take place on Saturday 6 May 2023, we know election teams with scheduled polls on 4 May 2023 will need to know how this may affect the election timetable 1/5 #LocalGov#Elections
We do not know yet whether the May Day bank holiday will be moved to Friday 5 May, in the same way May Day 2020 was moved for the VE Day 75th anniversary. 2/5
There is also the potential issue of holding Friday election counts on what may now be a bank holiday, or even Coronation Day if parish council counts are planned for 6 May. 3/5
We are also aware of the additional work election teams combined with democratic services teams, and Returning Officers, will be taking on to plan and run celebratory civic events. 4/5
We are in touch with the @luhc and @ElectoralCommUK and will keep our members updated as soon as we hear anything. 5/5
