Self-assessment helps learners to reflect and assess their own performance and progress.

Here are 3 reasons to create a self-assessment for your course, coaching program, consulting services, or book: Image
1. Provide an overview

Succinctly communicate the skills, knowledge, and actions your learners will need to develop to master the topic or skill.
2. Promote self-awareness

Help learners identify where they’re at, and what to prioritise to achieve their goals.

I asked:

In your experience, what's the difference between an Online Course that's Community-Powered, and one that isn't?

The conversation it sparked was mind-blowing.

10 co-created reasons to take a Community-Powered Learning approach as a learner or instructor:
Firstly — What is Community-Powered Learning (CPL)?

CPL is when learners learn together, with or without an instructor, through experience, practice, conversation and reflection.

CPL is fostered in a safe space, with shared values, and a shared understanding of engagement.
Community-Powered Learning exists on a spectrum.

Light CPL

Examples:

Commenting on a Twitter thread.

One-hour workshop where the instructor creates space for group reflection and connection.

Being inspired by each other's ideas and creating our own things.

Which online writers inspire you?

Why do they inspire you?

Thank you @AlexandraAllen_ for these prompts as part of your Write of Passage Mentor session💡

Here are 3 writers top of my mind:
1/ @wes_kao

Wes's writing:
- introduces an insightful, useful and often uncommon perspective
- is as long, short or personal as it needs to be
- is thoughtful, clear and detailed

thanks Wes!
2/ @mariepoulin

Marie's writing:
- is always really touching and heartfelt and draws from her personal experience
- has dashes of her hilarious so humane humour
- is shared with us when she really wants to share with us, my ears always prick up when she does :)

thanks Marie!

Just spoke with @khalilliouane aka @getskills21 about an awesome @My_Snapshot use case for Startups, VCs + Accelerators.

Absolute game changer.

Talk about leverage.

[THREAD]
@khalilliouane @getskills21 @my_snapshot The VC / Accelerator standardises their framework on how to build a unicorn.

They may already have a framework. It's different when they take the steps of:
- Defining it
- Creating a Visual Mental Model

This way startups get the playbook quickly + are focused on execution.
@khalilliouane @getskills21 @my_snapshot Every 6 months a @My_Snapshot self-assessment based on their framework is sent to their startups.

When the startups have completed their self-assessment, they get a snapshot of their current state + the VC / Accelerator gets to see their status too.

I'm getting excited about launching my newsletter in February! 🥳

@gwynwans convinced me to create my own logo for it.

Soo.. just made this!

What does it conjure up for you?
Does it excite you?
Does it entice or intrigue you?
Do you 'get it'?
How can I make it better?
These were the other designs I was experimenting with.

The one I chose felt comfy to look at.

It rolled off the page.

The others seemed difficult to read, clunky or up tight. Do you know what I mean? lol
You might be wondering what is meta learning?

Ha yes! It's a curious word.

I'm not trying to be trendy, promise!

Meta learning is:
- An awareness of how you learn, your thinking + actions
- Gauging whether you're making progress
- "Your ability to learn joyfully" @Davoh

We want it to be easy for the 1027 students from 74 countries to build friendships with classmates from every corner of the world. To get the ball rolling, we’ve created and embedded this dynamic map in our community platform @CircleApp.
