Digital ticketing has played right into the clubs hands.
It’s given them data, always dangerous, to work off of, it’s given them information no fanbase want their club to have, a big brother style watch over of the fanbase and who is attending each game
⬇️
It’s become very methodical in approach, seek out and ban, seems to be the modus operandi this season, and as opposed to targeting the big touts they have gone after Joe Public for shifting a ticket on to a mate at face value, or advertising for same
⬇️
The impetus on enforced attendance now forces certain fans hands, to ensure their ticket is scanned in, to ensure they are allowed renew their Season Ticket, some will fall foul of this new strict regime against fans sharing tickets
⬇️
The cynics suggests they are trying to free up seats of ST holders by banning many of us, to increase income by selling those seats to One United members at a higher price and this demographic of fan will be more likely to visit the megastore and spend £££
I’m a cynic 🙋🏻♂️
⬇️
This sanitising of the fanbase is yet another sneaky move, employed by the club, to maximise matchday revenue and remove as many of us as possible, replacing with tourist style fans ticking Old Trafford off their “checked in on social media” list, by using their new rules
⬇️
The implementation of forcing fans to hold a OneUnited membership to enable them to purchase tickets, or have a ticket forwarded to them… genius really. They have monetised the fanbase to the extreme with this move they slowly brought in.
⬇️
They’re sucking the lifeblood out of this fanbase, have been doing so for nearing 2 decades now, and slowly but surely, unless they are removed as owners, they will eventually succeed in having a full stadium of happy clapper, megastore bagged up, tourists.
