This is an important issue w/the Harvard affirmative action case coming up in the Supreme Court: are Asians pulling away from everybody else on the SAT undergrad test because they are so much smarter, or because the SAT is broken? Asians aren't lapping the field on MCAT or LSAT.
Here's the racial breakdown a decade and a half ago on mean scores on the high stakes tests for postgrad education. Back then, Asians were ahead of whites on 5 of 8 tests or subtests, but it wasn't a wipe-out. Does anybody know what has happened since?

In the 21st Century Asians have been fulling away from the field on the SAT admissions exam like Secretariat i the 1973 Belmont. Is the same thing happening on the ACT and on postgrad high stakes tests like the MCAT and GMAT?

It's an important empirical question related to the upcoming Harvard affirmative action Supreme Court case? If the Supremes ban affirmative action, would Asians get all the good spots, or can the SAT be reformed so that Asians aren't so dominant?

Here's the 2021 paper's graph of IQ vs. Euro ancestry of the 5911 individuals in the database whose parents self-identified them as non-Hispanic whites and nothing else. Vast majority are at least 7/8ths ancestrally white by DNA analysis. Upper 90s% higher IQ than 100%.

In the mid-20th Century, America’s elite colleges skillfully maintained their brand value by letting in enough Jews that Jewish wealth didn’t flow much into founding Jewish colleges the way that Catholic wealth had flowed into ND & GT.

@TanaGaneva @2_trenchcoat @CharlesFLehman Facts to grasp: FBI stats report that of murders committed with a known type of gun, 92% were handguns.

The great majority of handguns used in murders were already illegal for the murderer to carry.

So, what kind of gun control works?
@TanaGaneva @2_trenchcoat @CharlesFLehman First, banning rural rednecks from buying scary looking rifles has a minimal effect on homicide totals. So Point of Sale gun control, while emotionally satisfying, isn't very effective.

What what works is what NYC did after 1990: Point of Use gun control on illegal handguns.

UCLA went from the #2 football team in the giant Los Angeles market to #4 when the two NFL teams arrived. Heck, the Raiders probably have more hardcore fans.

The Rose Bowl is 25 miles from the campus so students don't go.

UCLA alumni are increasingly Asian, so less football mad
UCLA plays in the Rose Bowl, which is historic and in a majestic location under Mt. Wilson. But it's a pretty barebones facility. And Pasadena is more USC territory.

Rose Bowl is 27 miles from UCLA, while glitzy new Sofi Stadium is 13.

No room on UCLA campus for a stadium.
I'm vague on why Big Ten conference (Great Lakes region) wanted to add UCLA (other than that they wanted USC, who needed a partner). It's football program can't be a big money generator.

The Los Angeles Diaspora in Texas is probably more college football-oriented than LA folks.

FBI announces: Blacks made up 60.4% of known murder offenders in 2021.

That would be a new record for black dominance of murders, up from a record 56.5% black in 2020, although methodological snafus reduced police department participation this year.

New FBI homicide stats out for 2021. Handguns were used in 5,363 killings, knives in 1,018, rifles in 410, automatic handguns in 205, shotguns in 152, and, scariest of all, automatic rifles in 37.

Basically, America has a huge illegal handgun murder problem among blacks.

Keep in mind the FBI got less cooperation from local police forces, only 64% than last year (more for the FBI finally insisting on a long threatened methodological change than overt politics).
