I mailed my ballot today. And I proudly voted to uphold my constitution. I remember not so long ago when Republicans like Mike Dunleavy called themselves "proud Constitutional conservatives." Some of them were SO proud, they left the Republican Party to join the 1/
"Constitution Party." That was even more Consititution-y! They treated the Constitution like the Bible, like a holy writ. Until all of a sudden the Constitution wasn't working for them anymore. They didn't ask themselves why they kept losing constitutional challenges 2/
in the courts. Or maybe they did. And maybe they figured out that the Constitution wasn't what they thought it was. It didn't mean an automatic win. It wasn't always on their side. In fact, it wasn't more often than not. So now suddenly these strict constitutional 3/
conservatives have tossed their holy constitution overboard. Suddenly, they've decided they and their own brand of regressive ideology knows better than the constitution, because the constitution doesn't mesh. So now they want everyone to vote YES on the question 4/
to have a Constitutional Convention, and upend it all. They want to open it up and remake it in their own image. They never wanted the Constitution. They only wanted their own ideology to be validated. And so now they have no qualms about tinkering with a document that has 5/
served our state & been a model to the world for more than 50 yrs. A "con con" as they call it would be a disaster. If you can't get your agenda through without violating the Constitution, maybe that means your agenda is unconstitutional. I voted NO as hard as I could.6/6 #akleg
