Work in public service? Have student debt? Please apply for the #PSLF waiver before 10/31. It is the BEST way to get FULL CANCELLATION or fix previously ineligible payments! See below for some tips ⬇️(1)
General Information here: studentaid.gov/announcements-…
Know yr loan types for the #PSLF waiver. Check yours at studentaid.gov. Eligible loans:
Direct Loans
Direct Consolidation Loans
Parent Plus Loans *if* consolidated w/yr loans
FFEL Loans*
Perkins Loans*
FFEL consolidation Loans*
*must apply for consolidation by 10/31 (2)
Need to consolidate for the #PSLF waiver? Do it here:
studentaid.gov/app/launchCons…

You do NOT need to be approved for consolidation by 10/31 to qualify, you just need to APPLY by 10/31. It takes 10 minutes. Choose MOHELA as your servicer. Pick an income driven repayment plan. (3)
Submit your #PSLF form by 10/31 for the waiver. It's ONE form PER employer. All forms need a "wet" signature. Use the PSLF help tool OR fill out by hand. (3)

Form available here: studentaid.gov/sites/default/… Image
Not sure where to send your #PSLF form?
Info on where to send the form is on PAGE 4.
If MOHELA is your servicer, you can upload on their site.
If MOHELA is NOT your servicer, mail or fax. Use certified mail to be safe. Save fax confirmation. (4)
studentaid.gov/sites/default/…
Calling MOHELA to confirm receipt of your #PSLF waiver paperwork is likely a big waste of time. If you're nervous, fax paperwork and save the confirmation or re-send using certified mail. GET RECEIPTS.
Remember, ED now has a PSLF appeals process! (5)

You don't need to wait for your transfer to MOHELA to apply for the #PSLF waiver.
You don't need to wait for consolidation to be approved to apply for the #PSLF waiver, you just need to submit an application.
You can submit your #PSLF forms while consolidation processes. (6)
If you cannot get your employer to sign your #PSLF form by the 10/31 waiver deadline OR your employer no longer exists, check the box at the bottom of page 1 to SELF-CERTIFY! Get it in before the deadline. (7)

Folks STILL waiting for their #PSLF waiver review, deep breaths. Average response is 4-6 months for the 1st review letter, after that expect 2-3 letters w/weeks in between. It is LONG. There is LITTLE communication. Here's a thread on review letters. (8)
I know every #PSLF borrower is stressed. I wish @usedgov cared about this process at all. Remember, come January, if repayment starts, you *can* request a few months of forbearance if you believe you've made 120 payments while your waiver application processes. (9)
If you have #PSLF waiver questions, throw them down below. Let's try to help each other. I will try to answer what I can here. My DMs are closed. Share this thread, help others. I'm sure I've missed some tips, but let's get as much info out there as we can. 10 more days. (10)
REMEMBER IF YOU HAVE FFEL OR FFEL CONSOLIDATION LOANS YOU CAN STILL CONSOLIDATE FOR THE #PSLF WAIVER. YOU ARE NOT EXCLUDED FROM THIS RELIEF!
APPLY FOR CONSOLIDATION BY 10/31 HERE AND SEND IN YOUR #PSLF FORMS. (11)
studentaid.gov/app/launchCons…
Another #PSLF waiver tip, your loan servicer has NOTHING to do with your loan TYPE. Don't assume what type of loan you have based on who your servicer is. Check your loan types on your studentaid.gov dashboard. See above⬆️in this🧵for more info.(12)
If you access the #pslf help tool by 10/31 you will be eligible, even if you get your forms done later. If you use paper forms, just have them signed by 10/31 to be eligible, even if you send them later. APPLY! APPLY! APPLY! (13)

4 more days until the #PSLF waiver expires and I'm feeling all kinds of feelings. I'm feeling hopeful which I didn't expect. Did as many people through as deserved it? No. It's been 15 years since PSLF started and ED, FSA, and the White House are still not taking it seriously. 1)
But I think we finally broke through on #PSLF in the past year in a way we don't fully understand. 2022 the door was opened. 2023 is when we're really going to see full cancellation take off for a generation of public sector workers. We can't understand it, yet. 2)
The work isn't done by a long shot, but there's something big on the horizon. Between #PSLF, the IDR adjustment, Biden cancellation, something fundamental has changed. And it's SO wild to see it take off. People are about to get free. Free College is getting REAL. 3)
