Ukrainian forces used one company of troops to conduct a reconnaissance battle in the direction of the village of Kuzemivka in the Kupyansk sector. The enemy suffered losses in manpower and equipment and withdrew to their initial positions.
Taking advantage of improved weather conditions, the Ukrainian command began to advance near Makiivka. The offensive utilized reserves and mercenary units gathered in the area.
The main direction of the strike from the Ukrainian armed forces' bridgehead on the eastern bank of the Zherebets River was the village of Krasnopopovka, located near the Svatove-Kreminna highway.
At the same time, up to two AFU companies launched an attack on Novovodiane to the north of Makiivka.
Both attacks were repelled by servicemen of the 20th Army of the Russian Armed Forces. The Ukrainian formations retreated to Makiivka under concentrated Russian artillery fire.

On the night of October 21-22, an AFU company reinforced with armored vehicles attempted to entrench itself on the hills south of Makiivka, but was driven back to its starting line by artillery fire from the Russian Armed Forces.
In the afternoon of October 22, two AFU BTGrs resumed their assault on Russian Armed Forces positions near Krasnopopovka. Fierce fighting continues at the moment.
The Ukrainian command is redeploying additional forces to the area in Makiivka. Along the line of contact between Kreminna and Svatove there are active clashes.
