Well, it seems that despite Greensill’s collapse and ongoing investigations in multiple jurisdictions, the rewilding plans are still in play and occupying Lex’s time. Here is what is happening.
Back in 2019, years before Greensill imploded in spectacular fashion, the parish council in Saughall and Shotwick Park held consultation meetings and essentially backed Lex’s plan to buy a large piece of land there for rewilding.
As described in The Pyramid of Lies, Lex told colleagues that rewilding big swathes of land was “what billionaires do” with their money.
But when Greensill filed for administration in March 2021, amid a major financial and political scandal, the local council in Cheshire decided to launch an internal audit review of its relationship with Mr Greensill and the rewilding plans.
The review found Lex Greensill and one of his key lieutenants - the former head of UK procurement Bill Crothers - had wooed the local council for years, including over the rewilding plans. This was at the same time they were apparently building a multi-billion $ global business.
Anyway, following the audit review, Cheshire West council and the local Saughall parish council decided to go ahead with the sale of land to Greensill for rewilding, despite some concerns about the attention of the “global press” on Greensill. However…..
…now the parish council is thinking again about its Greensill plans because of concerns raised locally “with regard to alleged 'anomalies' in Parish Council governance and procedure” according to documents posted on its website.
There is a public meeting on Monday Oct 24 to discuss these concerns. Lex has written to the councillors saying they should go ahead with the plans because their previous support “was correct and had been provided with honesty, integrity and objectivity” or withdraw support.

Remember, billions of $ of investor money is still missing following the Greensill collapse. There are lawsuits and investigations, including criminal investigations, into and related to Greensill business around the world. And then there’s this dispute with the parish council…
