I have a question about this whole exchange: if I had seen an apparently serious @scottjshapiro tweet on a serious subject, I would have spent the next hour trying to figure out how it was actually a joke, and what amusing point I had missed. I want to understand how @timnitGebru
knew to take at face value as that rare unicorn of a tweet: @scottjshapiro being serious! Does she have a magic Scott Shapiro joke decoder ring? Or does she not know enough about Scott’s feed to know how statistically unlikely it is to not look altogether foolish
by taking Scott seriously when he posts something apparently earnest?
Yeah, unfortunately it has aged well. And equally unfortunately, neither Chris Wray nor anyone else at the Bureau has been made to answer these questions still.
There is exactly nothing surprising about this revelation. Wray has gotten a pass on Jan. 6 from both Republicans and Democrats. From Republicans because they want to pretend Jan. 6 didn't happen so the magnitude of the intelligence failure preceding it must be ignored too.
