bayonetta 3's combat is wonderful, and the story was a huge disappointment to me polygon.com/reviews/234214…
i'm glad the review embargo is up because i've been sad about this for weeks. i replayed all of bayo 1 + 2 because i was so excited about this game. they were both wonderful. if you're excited about bayo 3 for the same reasons that i was, just replay those two games instead.
i did have a lot of fun making this gif, at least. Michelangelo would be proud to see this allusion to the Sistine Chapel imho
tbh it makes perfect sense if straight men are largely giving bayonetta 3 great scores. the game is made explicitly for them. sorry if this tweet sounds mean or whatever but it's simply the facts of the matter as presented clearly by the game itself.
if you want to know what happens in more detail, please just give me a few days. the game will be out very soon (friday) and the embargo will be up. and i am sure i won't be the only one who has something to say about it when the time comes

"it would be cool to play a version of The Last of Us where you're ellie," i said in 2013, and the monkey's paw curled inward polygon.com/reviews/2020/6…
i had to talk about the end of the first TLOU to talk about what this game's about, but also, the embargo (and common sense) prevents me from talking about the issues i had with the late-game story and ending. like the first one, the discourse will be, "well, did you beat it?"
i was so pumped to play a game about ellie, and also there are so many other well-drawn characters in this story. btw i'm good with a queer character who's flawed, disempowered, or unhappy! if only TLOU2's story hadn't flattened itself out into "violence bad violence bad"
