“Dear Colleagues, vanteeffelenlab.org has openings for PhD students and Postdocs
with backgrounds in physics, engineering, chemistry, or biology who are
interested in developing and applying state-of-the-art microscopy (notably
single-particle tracking and track analysis
Microscopy is paired with single-cell perturbations (e.g., in
microfluidics), computational modeling, and approaches from molecular biology. Candidates will work on one of multiple questions at the interface of physics and biology: the regulation of intracellular density and
macromolecular crowding, intracellular spatial organization, the mechanical determinants of cell shape and size, cell-envelope organization (membrane+cell wall), or the regulation of osmotic pressure.
bioengineers. After seven years at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, the lab moved to the Department of Microbiology at the University of Montreal in central Montreal in 2021. We collaborate with theoreticians, biologists, and engineers in Europe and the Americas, which offers
possibilities for short-term visits and collaborative experiments.
Candidates should have prior education in physics, engineering, chemistry,
or biology and have demonstrated a keen interest in quantitative
approaches. Because our work is heavy on the side of custom
microscopy and
data analysis, prior experience with coding and data analysis is necessary.
Additional experience with either of the following is a plus: optics,
microscopy, image analysis, #microfluidics, mechanics, microbial cell biology, #molecularbiology.
PhDPosition - We are looking for a PhD in Collaborative governance - developing and testing innovative Nature-based Solutions and practices in agricultural catchments.
The PhD project will examine how multiple objectives and political goals (nature protection and biodiversity
enhancement, water quality improvements, climate change mitigation and adaptation) can be delivered and implemented in tandem. For this to be possible there is a need to better understand the possibilities for collaborative governance can be integrated in policy design and
policy implementation. The PhD project will focus on theoretical and empirical research that provides new insights into the co-evolutionary dynamics of public sector innovation, collaborative governance and natural resource management
Dr Thamsen said “As a new Lecturer in Computer Systems at the University of Glasgow, I am looking for a PhD student to work with me on carbon-aware cloud computing and I have a School of Computing Science Studentship to be allocated (supports tuition fees at the home level and
living expenses at the UKRI rate with an annual stipend), receiving priority as a new and early-career member of faculty. ☁️💻🌱
The central aim of my new lab's research – lnkd.in/eK_mYu6S – is to reduce the carbon footprint of large-scale data processing applications
on today's diverse computing infrastructures. Towards this goal, we work on methods, systems, and tools that support a more resource-efficient and sustainable use of distributed computing infrastructures for data-intensive applications. Much of the current work builds upon years
Dr Molnar is looking for a PhD candidate in her research group "Systems, Data, Simulation and Energy" (SYDSEN) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), funded by our new project ONE4ALL (Horizon Europe 2022).
ONE4ALL aims to boost manufacturing plants’ transformation,
especially SMEs, towards industry 5.0 (I5.0), reinforcing their resilience under unexpected changes in social needs. This will be done through a human-and-sustainability-centred development of plug-and-produce reconfigurable cyber-physical production modules (RCPMs). Those will
consist of self-reconfigurable mobile collaborative robots embedded with IIOT devices for real-time monitorisation and interconnectivity. Our part in this project is the digital replication of the physical modules and processes through data-driven digital twins and controlled by
Masters and PhD Research Assistantships in Insect Conservation and Agriculture at University of Wisconsin – Madison The Gratton Lab is seeking 1-2 graduate students to join the lab for either a MS or PhD starting in 2023. Current funding opportunities include projects exploring
the relationship between pollinator conservation and animal grazing and private land conservation practices and management. Individuals with interests in entomology, conservation and ecology, landscape ecology and agriculture/agroecology are encouraged to apply. Required: BS or
BA in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science/Studies, Agriculture or related field. Prior experience doing field research.
Desired: In your personal statement, clearly describe why you are passionate about the work you do or want to do, why graduate studies are the next
The Lemoine Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at Marquette University (marquette.edu/biology, natelemoine.com) recruiting a PhD student funded by a teaching assistantship starting Fall 2023.
The Lemoine Lab specializes in Trophic and Quantitative Ecology, using physiological and organismal lab experiments, field experiments, and models to understand how species interactions shape ecosystem function. Currently, the lab emphasizes predicting how climate change will
alter community composition and ecosystem function via altered species interactions.
The Department of Biological Sciences at MU offers students the opportunity to gain a broad, interdisciplinary understanding of biology. In addition, the department has close connections with
