🧵watch vid 1st - Ryan Walters is CEO of @EKCOklahoma. On EKCO board is VP of Pub. Affairs - Saxum (PR Firm) Jennifer Monies. Monies=Stitt appointee to the State Board of Ed; recently voted to downgrade @TulsaSchools accreditation; is on the board of John Rex Charter School /1
Monies was also the ex. dir. for OK Achieves. Ryan walters was ex. dir. of same from 5/19-5/20. Back to Saxum - Renzi Stone fm story link in /1 (screenshot below) is the founder/exec of Saxum. Saxum received $722k in PPP loans in '20. Approved by First Fidelity Bank /2
First Fidelity Bank is a client of Saxum. Saxum had MORE money forgiven than they borrowed.
I know we are getting in the weeds here. Hang tight. /3
The Oklahoma Dept of Health is also a Saxum client - for $95k/month. Notably doing reputation management for Oklahomas public health lab that is under federal investigation. (Also, remember that pandemic response center that never opened?) /4
Switching ⚙ ⚙ a bit - back to Ryan Walters and Oklahoma Achieves - in June '20, OKA (ran by State Chamber) announces merger w/Every Kid Counts Oklahoma and their current exec dir Ryan Walters will serve as CEO. Where did EKCO come from though?? /6
Enter Upward Oklahoma Inc. Founded in 2016 by Brett Farley. Who tf? Good question! /7
Brett Farley is the executive director of the Catholic Conference of OK, brains behind Veritas Strategy, founder of Upward OK and principal incorporater for @EKCOklahoma.
Context - through Veritas, Farley was the grassroots campaign director 4 👇👇/8 oxygen.com/true-crime-buz…
"But where tf did EKCO come from?" Ah! Thx 4 reminding me.
First, you gotta know what the Scissortail Community Development Corporation is. We're focusing on the actual corporation.
The corp was opened in 2011 + the registered agent listed is the Sec of state /9
This is where it gets interesting. At this point in history, Michael Rogers was the Secretary of State for OK. Rogers was Sec. of Ed from Jan '19 - Aug '20. His term as SOS was Nov. 18 - Oct '20 (yes, I too see the overlap and it's irresponsible and gross) /10
What does then-Secretary of State Michael Rogers and the SOS controlled not for profit Scissortail Community Dev Corp have to do with @EKCOklahoma, you ask? Everything.
Jan '20 - Rogers files 2 trade names reports for SCDC: ECKO and Every Kid Counts Oklahoma /11
Strange? Why would the Secretary of State file trade names on Jan 14 '20 for a nonprofit that didn't exist until March 30 '20? You see - Upward Oklahoma didn't become EKCO until March that year... the same day they filed a trade name report for ECKO 🤨 /12
What's a trade name anyways? According to state law - if you're doing business in the state, you've gotta register your org, AND any other name you use while co ducting business, with the SOS. /13
It would seem the state of Oklahoma might not want to have a random nonprofit sharing a trade name with them. Surely Michael Rogers took care of this? Oh he did. On March 30, 2020. The exact damn day @EKCOklahoma was born and handed over to its proud new dad Ryan Walters /14
And who do I see on the list of incorporaters for OK Achieves/EKCO? Ah, Jason Reese. At this time, Reese was a public policy writer 4 the Catholic Conf of OK under Farley. By Jan 20, he was a @GovStitt appointee 2 the OK Workers Comp Com. Jan 21, he's governors general counsel/15
Lets back up for a minute - we didn't really talk about Oklahoma Achieves, the OG @EKCOklahoma. Where did they come from? Youre not reading the links! Shame on you..
And the state Chamber, in May '19, announced McAlester Public Schools teacher Ryan Walters would become the new executive director of Oklahoma Achieves. Jennifer Monies moved on to her new job as VP of Public Affairs for Saxum. How bout that. /17
The regime change over at OK Achieves happens one week after @GovStitt signed a budget with a $157 million increase. OKA was a self-described coalition of biz leaders focused on changing public ed policy specifically around "knowledge, skills, and behavior" /18
Let's pause there...think with me for a sec. What kind of "behavior" do YOU think corporate Oklahoma wants our kids learning? Collective power? How about the full history of industrialization? "But Sarah! The industrial revolution created new opportunities + economic growth!" /19
This is true. You know what else it brought? Pollution. Worker exploitation. Health + safety hazards. Life with NO leisure for the working class. /20
Ryan Walters was appointed Sec of Ed Sept. 20. He remains CEO of @EKCOklahoma - which I believe to be a shell-company for a joint venture between the State of OK + the State Chamber. They are trying to dismantle public education, and why? /21
@GovStitt, @sec_walters, @okstatechamber want to privatize public education so they can get rich and open the doors wide for corporations, instead of educators, to write the curriculum/lock students into narrow courses of study. Theyre trying to mass produce the working class/22
If this doesn't scare the shit out of you, you're either a soulless ghoul (looking at you Ryan Walters + Kevin Stitt) or you really need to read Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. Cliff notes - corps + governments want to use STEM to control society. But first... /23
They need to be able to change the way humans, starting with our children, think, act, feel about others, capitalism, and US History.
They can control the social hierarchy of America forever. They pick the curriculum. They pick kids' futures. /end
🧵 I’m at an anti-CRT, anti-DEI event in Tulsa. I won’t say the name because my platform is bigger than the speaker’s is 🙃 let’s roll. /1
There’s about 30 vehicles here. Very small event space. Probably abt 40 people here. Average age probably 60y/o. /2
One attendee says the key to their strategy is “attacking” (her word) Oklahoma superintendents and getting rid of them is Ryan W*liters winning the State Super race. /3
The mayor said “I think @GovStitt is correct and I’m going to follow his lead.”
A Chief tried to break down the issue to help @gtbynum understand the gravity of Stitt’s actions. The chief said “Gov. Stitt is the worst Governor in Oklahoma history for tribes.”
GT said /2
“Well I guess we can agree to disagree,” @gtbynum said matter of factly. Asserting to the chiefs that his opinion on tribal relations with the state mattered in that room.
As far as the roughly 6 calls GT had with business leaders prior to filing the amicus brief /3
I am very curious abt why the Scissortail Community Development Corporation first attempted to register the trade names “Every Kid Counts OK” & EKCO in January of 2020 /2
And why the stagnant organization Upward Oklahoma was chosen to become EKCO? /3
Have y’all heard of GEER funds? I hadn’t either until recently. Funded through the CARES Act, GEER stands for Governor's Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund. Stitt had access to $39.9 mil. How was it spent? /1
We need an audit - urgently. Stitt earmarked $30 mil to these 3 programs - Learn Anywhere Oklahoma, Bridge the Gap Digital Wallet and Stay in School Funds.
Here’s a press release from ‘20 where Stitt made sure to say the funds could be given to private schools 🙃 #GEERAudit /2
“Bridge the Digital Gap Wallet” sounds like a great program… it provides $1500 grants to low-income families for purchasing curriculum content, tutoring etc.
Cool, cool. So who is overseeing the $8 mil. allocated for this program?
