It's #ScottishGamesWeek so looks like it's time to start the usual discourse about the success of DMA design in the 90s and how we need to get the industry 'back to the glory days' while ignoring all the good things we've been doing.
Would welcome a frank discussion about this.
There have been so many great success stories, but if they don't fit the existing framework of what people believe the Scottish industry to be, they don't get spoken about.
It's a small industry, sure, so talking about it is hard without offending someone you know 🤷♂️
Not even someone you know, someone you _care about_. I consider quite a few people who worked on those old games as friends, and don't want them to feel like I'm belittling their legacy.
After all, I wouldn't be running No Code without a bit of DMA DNA.
But as an industry, if we're ever going to grow on the world stage, we need to widen our view on what is actually going on right now.
Focusing on the past implies nothing has happened since, and it couldn't be further from the truth.
