Jan. 6 defendant Albuquerque Cosper Head is in the courtroom for his sentencing. So is the man he assaulted, former D.C. Officer Mike Fanone.
In court, Mike Fanone told the judge to “show him the same mercy that he showed me on Jan. 6… which is none.”
Fanone: “I would trade all of this attention to return to policing. But I can’t do that.”
Judge Amy Berman Jackson is back on the bench.
Here’s Mike Fanone’s body worn camera footage:
Judge Amy Berman Jackson doesn’t like the defense describing the assault as becoming “entangled.” That’s what happens when you get dogs’ leashes crossed, not what happens when you drag an officer down the stairs of the US Capitol, she says.
“C’mon,” she said of using the word “entangled.”

"kateoutlaw2" -- aka Katelyn Bartow -- has been arrested in connection with the Jan. 6 attack. She's charged along with Travis Bartow. ImageImage
Very dedicated to the 1776 motif. Image
"TRAVIS BARTOW initially advised that he attended the event alone. However, when informed that KATELYN BARTOW was previously interviewed by the FBI... TRAVIS BARTOW then advised that he was in Washington, D.C. with KATELYN BARTOW on January 6, 2021."

Judge Amy Berman Jackson at a Jan. 6 sentencing today: "People need to understand that they can't do this… They can't try to force their will on the American people once the American people have already spoken at the ballot box. That's the opposite of democracy, it's tyranny.”
“The threat to democracy, the dark shadow of tyranny, unfortunately, has not gone away… There are people who are still disseminating the lie that the election was stolen, they're doing it today.”
“The people who are stoking that anger for their own selfish purposes, they need to think about the havoc they've wreaked, the lives they've ruined, the harm to their supporters' families even, and the threat to this country's foundation.”

Thread: Jan. 6 defendant Nicholas Rodean was sentenced to home detention, and if you were in the courtroom, you’d understand why. Rodean has Asperger syndrome, which Judge Trevor McFadden said played a “major factor” in his conduct on Jan. 6.
Rodean’s lawyer said he was “substantially impaired,” had “rigid thinking” and an obsession with President Trump, which explains why he gloomed onto the nonsense conspiracy theories Trump and Republicans were spouting.
Rodean was attracted to “assertive male figures,” his attorney said. Rodean’s own sister said they were deeply interested in deterrence, but said “autistic people don’t fair well in prison.”

At the Oath Keepers trial today, prosecutors spent time illustrating that Capitol Police didn't just let rioters into the east rotunda doors.

Featured testimony from former Capitol Police Officer Ryan Salke.
“The number one priority of all of us was that these individuals don't get to the Capitol."

Ryan Salke, who did his job on Jan. 6 and was viciously assaulted, was a 2012 Romney volunteer.
