A piece of advice to all my friends in Western countries who think they are pro-peace or pro-diplomacy and whether from the Left or the Right presume to tell Ukrainians what is good for them: Please spend a few moments actually listening to Ukrainian voices. Real ones.
They are remarkably consistent on this subject. They are also the people whose lives and sovereignty and nationhood are on the line. Have enough humility to actually engage some Ukrainian voices before you bargain away Ukrainian lands or tell them what peace they must accept.
I promise you will find the experience eye-opening. Promise.
I have been on a personal campaign to listen to Ukrainian voices since February 24, including @rynkrynk's own. The fruits of some of these conversations can be found in my podcast #LiveFromUkraine. shows.acast.com/live-from-ukra…
I literally have not met one who sounds anything like the Progressive Caucus or @RepMattGaetz or the New York Times editorial page or @TuckerCarlson, all of whom in very different ways (and with different degrees of moral depravity) would presume to determine Ukraine's fate.
I am not saying that these voices are similar morally. I'm really not. But they do all have one thing in common: the basic belief that it should be up to us to negotiate with Putin and carve up Ukraine like we were playing the Great Game.
I am very glad that @POTUS has never shown such amoral "realism." One thing you will learn from listening to Ukrainians is that there is nothing realistic about this sort of thinking.

I have a question about this whole exchange: if I had seen an apparently serious @scottjshapiro tweet on a serious subject, I would have spent the next hour trying to figure out how it was actually a joke, and what amusing point I had missed. I want to understand how @timnitGebru
knew to take at face value as that rare unicorn of a tweet: @scottjshapiro being serious! Does she have a magic Scott Shapiro joke decoder ring? Or does she not know enough about Scott’s feed to know how statistically unlikely it is to not look altogether foolish
by taking Scott seriously when he posts something apparently earnest?
