The problem isn't that the Democrats don't care about the economy, it's that these four (three of which are Thiel-funded) don't care about abortion. The "class-reductionist" view that discounts all social issues as being culture war distractions has helped lead to this situation.
Voters do in fact care about abortion. While it is not the most important issue for most voters, it is one of the most important issues for many voters. (Also, the idea that "crime" is more prevalent is entirely a media creation).
