THREAD - An Athlete's sex life can lead to various anti-doping rule violations.
This is not intended to shame athletes but to offer a perspective that can help avoid anti-doping rule violations.
Intimacy choices can lead to doping bans.
Prohibited substances particularly of the narcotic kind can be inadvertently transmitted through intimate bodily exchanges including kissing.
It is important for athletes to be highly selective about intimacy partner/s. Screen each other regularly for narcotics, STI's and UTI's.
Consult a doctor and do not self-medicate in case of UTI because certain medication may contain prohibited substances or may lead to positive or false positive results.
As an athlete if you cannot commit to one intimate partner or if you desire or prefer to have multiple partners at any given time then be honest about your lifestyle. Sneaking around can lead to Missed Tests especially if you're not at the location recorded on your Whereabouts.
Lying about your Whereabouts in an effort to cover up your lifestyle or intimacy choices can lead to an additional anti-doping rule violation known as "Tampering with doping control".
Do not be ashamed to disclose any medication you may be taking for STI's or UTI's on your Doping Control Form. Hiding such information will be more harmful in case of a positive doping test.
