Hard no. I pay half as much for @netflix, I get @CobraKaiSeries, @TheCrownNetflix, Call My Agent and more for free and don’t have to endure stupidly obvious and painfully wit-free jokes from @reedhastings: theverge.com/2022/10/30/234…
Tumescent no. I pay half as much for Apple Music, get all the songs I like including ones that help me put my 1 year old to bed and @tim_cook doesn’t feel the need to tweet homophobic shitty news for laffs. Yeah fuck that.
Stiff no. @amazon Prime costs $5 less, I get all my deliveries of all manner of stuff fast and free, also get free video and @JeffBezos is looking good, has a great ex in @mackenziescott and makes penis-shaped rockets which is always good for a laugh.
Non-flaccid no. I pay nothing for @DisneyPlus since it comes free with my cable, get 4,529 watchings (and counting) of @DisneyFrozen for my 3 year old daughter and @RobertIger is charming, erudite and classy, as well as very handsome gentleman.
Turgid no. I pay half as much for @Microsoft 365, i get software for my upcoming book on Silicon Valley that just got a lot better and @satyanadella would never act like this much of a buffoon. In fact, he’s a gem.
In fact, I would not pay a dime for verification. In fact, social media should pay its creators and treat them with respect , instead of unleashing knuckleheads on them. Like I said, fuck that.

I’m not leaving Twitter, where I am an active user and I also am trying to create some substantive content via @TwitterSpaces. But I am def evaluating how actually good it is for my various biz endeavors, like organic marketing for the pod, more than ever. Personal enjoyment too.
But, as with other tech sites I used to use a lot (Instagram), I will leave if it becomes a shitty experience for me. This is a squarely product issue and if it’s not delightful or useful or must have, I tend to move along. If it gets overrun by assholes, it’s an easy choice.
But if it gets out of this navel-gazing and rah-rah the bird is free period — it will — I’d be excited to see some innovation here. I love Twitter and I hope I do not come to hate it.

Why? Cuz he’s an online fanboy of @KariLake type nonsense, @KariLake. I’ll give her this: Even after an elderly gentleman gets a hammer beat down, she’s relentless (and tasteless) in her manically demented pursuit of @KariLake type nonsense.
Her evil arched eyebrow game, tho, is flawless. Is this a sexist remark? Who knows!?! Maybe! Maybe not! Signed, Free Bird
Other arched eyebrow winners include … though, plot spoiler, this horned witch got nice in the end and that’s not going to happen here to this ...

Since Trump reinstatement seems off the table for now w/moderation UN idea, the next Twitter move (and soon since quarterly vesting is Tuesday) if I had to guess from my years of covering takeovers: VPs will be ordered to make stack ranked performance lists of their directs.
Then: Layoffs. Maybe not 75 percent but not small. It’s always the same playbook unfortunately.
Also it will be denied until they do it. That too is sadly always the way.

Sorry to say but I talked to @JohnFetterman for over an hour without stop or any aides and this is just nonsense. Maybe this reporter is just bad at small talk.
Listen to the interview in which we did not edit the ums or ahs out as we typically do for everyone else. There were few slips — I had more — and at no moment did he seem distracted: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/on-…
Lastly the most irksome thing for me when I had a stroke in 2011 is all Dr. Google folks who kept trying to give me advice (“Slow down,” they’d say; “Fuck you,” I’d reply) or study my speech for signs of trouble. It is a slow recovery but many younger people do just fine.

I have two things in common with @JohnFetterman — I dress like a slob and I had a stroke. What I did not have was an actual doctor mocking me for having a serious illness and recovering well. Listen to my latest On With Kara Swisher
Let me be clear, you can vote for who you want to, but for @DrOz to take political advantage of a major health scare by insinuating someone is incapable is appalling. I have never been more successful since I had my stroke and so many others with illnesses of all kinds have too.
Consider Steve Jobs, who created his most enduring legacies at work AFTER he was diagnosed with cancer. While his outcome was much more dire than Fetterman or me, a health issue does not spell the end. And Oz know this, which makes him even grosser.

This is a thread on the ephemeral nature of content, who owns your work & why creators need to own their IP, which just hit home when I was doing research for my memoir on covering the rise of Silicon Valley. Why? Because most the work we did at All Things Digital has gone poof.
If you remember, in the movie “The Social Network,” it was said the Internet is written in inedible ink. As it turns out, it’s not. When we started ATD inside the Wall Street Journal many years ago, after many bake-offs we picked @photomatt & @WordPress as our publishing platform
We were never sorry for that as the WSJ system at the time was just shitty and Matt has been a true entrepreneur in this arena who understood the needs of journalists. At the time in 2007, there were very rudimentary ways to post videos. We used Brightcove, which I cursed daily.
