a #taegi halloween drabble where yoongi is conned into going to a halloween party and meets a certain new addition to their friend group who makes it an alright night. Image
[1] “I’m not going to a Halloween party,” Yoongi said blandly, his eyes not even lifting from the book he was reading for a second.

Seokjin huffed and crossed his arms, pouting deeply in an effort to convince Yoongi to go. “You have to go! I need a wingman.”
[2] Now Yoongi looked up, but only to roll his eyes. “That man swallowed his tongue the last time you smiled at him. You don’t need a wingman, you need courage, which I can’t give you. Coward.”
[3] “I’m not a coward!” Seokjin denied even though he was very much aware he was, indeed, a coward. When it came to Kim Namjoon, all his confidence took an extended vacation. How could they not when the man had thighs that could crush his skull? “I just need moral support.”
[4] “Which you can get from Jungkook and Hoseok, both of whom I know are going since they sent me pictures of their costumes.”

“Jungkook will be off choking on Jimin’s tongue before the first song is over and Hoseok is even more intimidated by Namjoon than I am! I need you!”
[5] “You don’t,” Yoongi denied, turning the page of his book. He hadn’t actually finished the page but he felt that it gave him a nice air of nonchalance. Which he needed because he knew Seokjin would convince him to go eventually. He was weak and everyone knew it.
[6] Except instead of pushing as he normally would, Seokjin deflated, his shoulders curving inward as his brows furrowed minutely. It was the most outward demonstration of Seokjin’s lack of self-confidence Yoongi had ever seen and he couldn’t help but blink at him in surprise.
[7] But Seokjin didn’t notice, he just stared off to the side like he was thinking of something before he sighed. “Look, there’s someone else.”

“What?” Yoongi asked, finally putting down his book so he could look at Seokjin and understand what had put that tone in his voice.
[8] “I don’t know him but he’s Jimin’s new roommate and he’s— he’s beautiful, Yoongi. Just… I don’t even know how to describe it and he and Namjoon always have these long conversations about art and they seem so close and I— I don’t know how to compete with that.”
[9] Yoongi’s brow furrowed. “You think he’s interested in him?”

“I don’t know,” Seokjin admitted with a shrug. “I just thought that maybe if you were there you could distract him so I could talk to Namjoon.”

Wavering for a second, Yoongi sighed. “Alright. Fine.”
[10] “Really?” Seokjin gasped out, his face lighting up. He’d known he could count on Yoongi. He always could. “You’ll come?”

“Yes,” Yoongi agreed, pushing himself up, “but only because I want you to be happy.”
[11] “You’re the best, Yoongi! I’ll name our first child after you,” Seokjin promised, pulling Yoongi into a tight hug that briefly cut off his breathing. “Do you have a costume?”

Yoongi shook his head as he pulled away. “No, but I’ll come up with something.”
[12] Seokjin nodded, his mind already racing as he tried to come up with a costume for Yoongi based on what he knew the smaller man owned. It wouldn’t be the best, but they could manage to pull something together.

They had to.

His love life depended on it.
🎃
[13] Within 5 minutes of arriving, Yoongi realized he’d been duped. Seokjin had disappeared from his side almost immediately, appearing near Namjoon a few moments later. Namjoon had lit up like a Christmas tree the second he saw him and Seokjin and leaned in, touching his chest.
[14] If that wasn’t intimate contact, he didn’t know what was. Plus they were wearing a couple’s costume. Yoongi hadn’t thought much of Seokjin’s black cat costume but seeing now that Namjoon was dressed as Sailor Moon, he realized that Seokjin was Luna.
[15] He should have noticed the half-moon on his forehead but he’d been distracted.

Sighing, Yoongi grabbed a beer from the tub of ice and moved to a corner so he could lean against the wall. He was too old for shit like this.
[16] He’d never really been a fan of parties, but he’d handled them better in his teenage years and early twenties. Now he preferred to be at home on his couch or, at the very least, out with friends he knew and trusted. He wasn’t even sure who’s apartment they were at.
[17] Seokjin hadn’t been specific and he hadn’t thought to ask. He probably should have.

“I thought for a second we were actually haunted.”
[18] Yoongi blinked, his vision slowly returning from where it’d blurred out as he stared off into space. Now that he was focusing he saw a man in front of him, a ridiculous fake mustache on his face and a green hat on his head. Yoongi blinked at him. “Where’s Mario?”
[19] “He disappeared into his bedroom with a dude in a monk robe, so who can say,” the man commented, tilting his head. “You make a very convincing ghost.”

“Thanks. It’s the white hair and dark circles under my eyes,” Yoongi quipped, drinking his beer as he eyed the man closely.
[20] He hadn’t noticed at first but he was pretty. The mustache obscured a lot but his eyes were bright and smile wide. Plus he was tall and Yoongi had a weakness for that.

“I was thinking it was more your ability to stand absolutely still but you’re not wrong.”
[21] Yoongi snorted, his lips pulling into a smile despite himself. “I’ll take it. Is there a costume contest? Maybe I’ll win.”

“I don’t know… me and Jimin have a pretty strong chance and considering we own the place I think that gives me an unfair advantage.”
[22] “You’re Jimin’s new roommate?” Yoongi asked, frowning now. “The one who’s interested in Namjoon?”

The man blinked, his eyes wide. “Uh… I am?”

“Are you not?”
[23] “No,” the man denied, shaking his head. “We go to gallery openings and stuff together but that’s purely platonic. Who told you I was interested in him?”

“Kim Seokjin.”

The man frowned. “I definitely told him I wasn’t.”
[24] “Bastard,” Yoongi muttered. He’d already known he’d been lied to but this was just the icing on the cake. When had Seokjin become such a good actor? Yoongi was going to shave off his eyebrows.

“Um… you good?” The man worried.
[25] “Fine. He told me he needed a wingman to compete with a beautiful rival which is obviously you but he was /lying/,” Yoongi explained, sipping on his drink petulantly.

Instead of sympathizing, the man smiled, his fake mustache tilting dangerously. “You think I’m beautiful?”
[26] “Please, Luigi, you have a mirror I’m sure,” Yoongi responded, rolling his eyes.

“True, but it’s always nice to hear it from someone else.”

Yoongi lifted a brow. “Do you need the ego boost?”

“Sometimes,” the man admitted. “I’m Taehyung, by the way. Welcome to my home.”
[27] “Yoongi.”

Taehyung’s eyes widened and he laughed. “Ah.”

“Is there something funny?” Yoongi wondered, once again frowning.
[28] “No, I just— did you know they’ve been trying to set us up?” Taehyung asked, still chuckling. “I’ve been hearing about the infamous Yoongi for months but you never come to our parties.”

Yoongi shifted self-consciously. “I don’t like parties.”
[29] “Is that why you’re hidden in the corner?”

“Kinda. I just don’t know anyone but my friends and they’re busy and I get uncomfortable in crowds,” Yoongi explained, not entirely sure why he was just telling all this to a relative stranger.
[30] Taehyung nodded. “I get that. Do you want me to show you where I go when I’m overwhelmed?”

“If this is an invite to your bedroom, you could at least get me a drink first,” Yoongi commented dryly.

Surprisingly, Taehyung’s face flushed. “No! I just— I promise it’s not.”
[31] More than a little intrigued, Yoongi nodded and gestured with the hand still holding a half-empty bottle of beer. “Lead the way.”

“Okay!” Taehyung agreed, spinning on his heel and leading him through the crowd.
[32] People tried to stop him, men, women, and non-binary alike, but he shook them off with a smile and promise to return, never once pausing until he came to a door that Yoongi hadn’t noticed.
[33] He pulled out a key, unlocking the door as his eyes darted back to make sure Yoongi was with him. He must have looked confused because Taehyung explained, “We had an incident a few parties ago where someone almost fell off so now we just lock it. Simpler that way.”
[34] Yoongi nodded in understanding, his eyes darting around the area. It was a normal balcony for the most part but it had a swing in the corner, the anchors drilled into the balcony above and the rest was covered in plant life and two small, carved pumpkins.
[35] Most of it looked to be dying but the ivy that covered the walls was still going strong, making the area feel smaller and more secluded than it usually would in the middle of the city. Yoongi liked it immediately.
[36] Some of the tension he hadn’t realized he was carrying in his shoulders faded away. “It’s pretty here.”

Taehyung hummed as he moved to the swing and dropped down, his eyes immediately turning to the skyline. “I like the view.”
[37] “It is nice,” Yoongi agreed, settling beside him with more ease than he’d expected given they’d just met. “I miss the mountains sometimes though.”

“Oh? You’re not local?”

“Nah,” Yoongi denied, shaking his head as he watched the twinkling lights of the city. “Daegu.”
[38] “Me too!” Taehyung gasped out, his voice excited. “I’m not near the mountains though. Just a lot of farmland.”

“When’d you move?” Yoongi wondered, turning to look at him.
[39] Taehyung tilted his head, the mustache finally giving up the battle and falling off. Taehyung snatched it out of his lap with a put-upon sigh and then responded, “Like ten years ago now, I guess. I came for university.”
[40] “Me too,” Yoongi revealed. “Though that was almost fifteen years ago for me.”

“Fifteen?” Taehyung repeated, his eyes drifting up as he did the math. “That makes you what… thirty-three?”

“Thirty,” Yoongi corrected.
[41] “So it was twelve years ago,” Taehyung said, shaking his head. “Why round up?”

“Why not?” Yoongi said with a shrug.

Taehyung snorted, bemused by that for some reason. “Well, I’m twenty-seven.”

Yoongi nodded. “Same as Jimin.”
[42] “Yea, we went to school together,” Taehyung confirmed, his attention drifting off until he was focused out on the skyline again.

Following his gaze, Yoongi looked out into the night, eyes shifting from building to building.
[43] Sometimes he watched the shadows moving in the windows, other times he stared at the light-filled sky wishing for stars. He wasn’t sure how long he sat there but he was sure Taehyung had better places to be. “Don’t you have a party to host?”
[44] “If Jimin can disappear to blow a guy, I can sit on the balcony,” Taehyung said immediately.

Yoongi couldn’t help but snort. “Hopefully it was Jungkook under that robe, otherwise I’ll have to deal with a very sad boy and I don’t think we can be friends.”
[45] “Would we be?” Taehyung asked, turning back to look at Yoongi. “Friends?”

“Why not? You’re alright,” Yoongi admitted, clearing his throat as Taehyung continued to stare at him. “What?”

“You’re cute,” Taehyung replied honestly.

Yoongi blinked in surprise. “Um, thanks?”
[46] “Sorry. I just… I didn’t picture you to be like,” Taehyung paused and waved his hand toward Yoongi, “this.”

“I don’t know what to say to that,” Yoongi muttered.
[47] “It’s not an insult. You’re just so… soft,” Taehyung said after a moment, his lips frowning like he wasn’t quite happy with that word choice. “When everyone talks about you, they sound so… awe-filled? I just imagined you taller and more… not soft.”
[48] Yoongi stared at him for a full minute trying to piece together what Taehyung had just said. He didn’t get far, instead fixating on the middle. “People talk about me?”

“Of course. They were trying to set us up, remember?” Taehyung reminded him.
[49] “Right,” Yoongi muttered, finishing off his beer before setting it on the small table just off to the side. “So, are you disappointed?”

“Not at all,” Taehyung said immediately, smiling wide. “I like soft.”
[50] Yoongi hummed as he settled back, keeping his eyes off Taehyung. Everything felt so calm and warm even if the air was old. Just on the other side of the wall, chaos reigned, the loud music and voices leaking through the doorway and floating through the air.
[51] But out here that didn’t matter. They were removed from all that. Yoongi underwood why Taehyung came here when he was overwhelmed. If he had a place like this, he would too.

Then again, maybe the feeling had something to do with Taehyung.
[52] He wasn’t pushy. He wasn’t even touching him, not even accidentally. He kept his legs and arms away from Yoongi, maintaining a respectful space between them on the swing. Yoongi couldn’t remember the last time someone had hit on him without pushing or touching him.
[53] It was nice. If that’s what he was doing anyway. “Are you hitting on me, Taehyung?”

Taehyung smiled brightly, then shrugged. “Only if you don’t mind. If you do, then I’m not. Never even crossed my mind.”

Laughing at the candour, Yoongi shook his head. “I don’t mind.”
[54] “No?” Taehyung asked.

“No,” Yoongi confirmed, the laughter dying down and leaving a smile on his lips.

“Well then, I’ll continue,” Taehyung replied cheekily, relaxing into the swing further and letting his head fall back so he could roll it to the side.
[55] Yoongi raised a brow as he scanned Taehyung’s face, trying to get a read on him and failing. “I don’t know what to think about you.”

“No? Why not?” Taehyung wondered.
[56] “You’re the host of this party and apparently several others. Everyone here seems to know and like you, wants to talk, and yet you have a place you go to find calm and you flirt in the softest way I’ve ever experienced. It doesn’t quite match,” Yoongi explained.
[57] Taehyung hummed. “It matches because it’s who I am.”

Yoongi’s eyes flicked over Taehyung’s face and then he nodded. “I guess you’re right.”

For a moment, Taehyung just continued to stare at him, his cheek pressed up against the cushion of the swing.
[58] He didn’t say anything, nor did he move closer, but Yoongi felt something shift. It was like the previously calm and comforting air got heavier, like it was anticipating something. Maybe it was.
[59] It had been years since Yoongi kissed a stranger at a party but he couldn’t help but wonder if it was time to change that. He was here anyway and Taehyung was pretty, so why not?

Slowly, Yoongi inched closer until their bodies were closer, still not touching.
[60] Taehyung’s eyes flicked over Yoongi’s face but he didn’t move. It was like he was waiting for something. Waiting for Yoongi maybe. Yoongi wasn’t sure but he moved even closer, bending down until his nose was a hair’s breadth away from Taehyung’s cheek.
[61] Then he paused, eyes darting up to Taehyung, who met his gaze before closing the distance and slotting their lips together. He tasted like something fruity, much nicer than the slightly bitter taste of the beer on his own lips, and Yoongi liked it.
[62] He found himself pressing closer until their thighs finally touched, until Taehyung finally lifted a hand and touched his chin. Yoongi shuddered, not realizing he’d been waiting for that.

Yoongi quite honestly didn’t know what he was doing.
[63] He’d met Taehyung all of an hour ago after finding out he’d been tricked into coming for the sole purpose of meeting this man, but at the moment, as Taehyung’s lips moved over his slowly, keeping the kiss chaste and unhurried, Yoongi couldn’t bring himself to care.
[64] Everyone else he’d ever met at a place like this would have been pawing at him, asking for more, but Taehyung hadn’t. Not once. He just talked to him and helped him feel more comfortable in a place he’d rather not be. If nothing else, Yoongi liked Taehyung.
[65] At least the part he’d seen so far.
[66] Licking at the seam of Taehyung’s lips, Yoongi turned his body so he was facing him, bringing his knees up to press against Taehyung’s thighs. Taehyung’s hand dropped to his thigh, his thumb rubbing in a soothing manner as he parted his lips and allowed Yoongi access.
[67] At this point, Yoongi expected things to change, the tone to become hurried, but it didn’t. Their lips kept moving together slowly like they were testing for something. Yoongi didn’t know what that something was but maybe that didn’t matter.
[68] Regardless, Yoongi couldn’t help but press his fingers to Taehyung’s jaw, tracing up to his cheeks and ears before smoothing his hair back from his face and knocking the stupid green Luigi hat off his head.
[69] “Whoops,” Yoongi muttered against his lips, knowing instinctively that the moment had passed now. He didn’t regret it though.

Taehyung smiled. “Toss it off the balcony for all I care.”

“And hit a poor pedestrian? How cruel.”
[70] Snorting, Taehyung pulled back and settled into the cushion once again, his eyes still on Yoongi as he smiled. “That was nice.”

Yoongi couldn’t say he’d ever been complimented like that after a kiss so he wasn’t sure how to respond. He ended up just nodding. “It was.”
[71] “It’d like to do it again,” Taehyung admitted.

Though he was a little surprised, Yoongi only raised a brow. “Maybe. It depends.”

“On?”

“How the rest of this night goes,” Yoongi said honestly. He liked Taehyung, at least so far. He was respectful and nice.
[72] Plus he was hot so that helped. It’d been a long time since he bothered to give anyone the time of day, dating just wasn’t important to him, but he wondered if maybe he could give Taehyung a chance.
[73] He wasn’t fond of his friends setting him up with people but they did know him best, so there must have been something they saw in Taehyung and Yoongi was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
[74] This decision, of course, was /not/ at all helped along by the fact that Taehyung kissed him better than anyone else in recent memory.
[75] “Then I can’t wait to see,” Taehyung replied, not at all bothered by Yoongi’s ambiguous answer. He just smiled at him in understanding before sighing. “I do have to go in though. God knows what they’ll get up to unsupervised.”
[76] “Jimin will come back, won’t he?” Yoongi asked, hesitant to leave the balcony.

Taehyung snorted. “You say that like he wouldn’t feed into the chaos. He’s half the reason Jungkook almost fell off the balcony!”

“The person was /Jungkook/?” Yoongi gasped.
[77] “Oh, I guess no one told you but yea. Jimin was convinced Jungkook couldn’t hold his own weight upside down so Jungkook had to convince him. Turns out he can but not indefinitely. I swear I’ve never seen someone move as fast as Jin did when he pulled him back up.”
[78] “This is why I don’t go outside,” Yoongi muttered, making Taehyung laugh loudly. “What? I don’t. My bed is much better.”

“If I was a shallower man, I’d think that was an invitation,” Taehyung teased, sitting up straighter as he clearly prepared to leave the balcony.
[79] “We’ll see how the night goes,” Yoongi said again, this time smiling slightly.

Taehyung’s eyes darted to him in surprise but he covered it well, choosing to smile instead. “Then why don’t you join me inside and we’ll see how it goes?”
[80] Yoongi scanned his face and nodded, standing up. Taehyung followed suit, heading back inside and leaving the safe, quiet space of the balcony behind. Taehyung closed and locked the door quickly but before Yoongi could walk away, Taehyung reached out and grabbed his wrist.
[81] Yoongi blinked in surprise, looking down at his hand, only to see Taehyung turn it over and place a key in his palm. “What’s this?”

“For the balcony. In case you want some privacy again,” Taehyung explained, smiling gently. “I think you can be trusted with it.”
[82] Yoongi felt his heart thump louder than he was used to hearing it. He closed his hand slowly, his eyes lifting to meet Taehyung’s soft gaze. “Thank you.”

“No problem,” Taehyung said easily. “Now let’s go make sure our friends haven’t started a riot of some kind.”
[83] “Wouldn’t be the first time,” Yoongi sighed.

“From what I understand, the last riot was your fault.”

Yoongi’s head snapped up. “It wasn’t a riot; it was a protest! They were overcharging Jungkook’s class for art supplies! It was an overt abuse of power!”
[84] Taehyung laughed loudly, his eyes squeezing shut as he looked at Yoongi with amusement. He shook his head for a moment, his eyes never leaving Yoongi even as his smile spread. “You’re something else.”
[85] “So all the boys tell me,” Yoongi teased, ignoring the way his cheeks flushed in embarrassment under the ghost makeup. He really was going to shave off Seokjin’s eyebrows. He was the only one who would have told that story.
[86] “Can’t say I can imagine the man who’d been hiding in the corner organizing a coup,” Taehyung observed.

“A /protest/.”

“Right, right, sorry,” Taehyung said, laughing again. “A protest. Did you at least win?”
[87] “Of course I did,” Yoongi said immediately, tilting up his chin. “I bring receipts.”

Taehyung blinked at him, then smiled again. “Marry me.”

Yoongi raised a brow. “Get me a drink first.”
[88] “Done,” Taehyung agreed, darting away towards the kitchen. Yoongi watched him go with a small smile on his lips, that loud thump of his heart picking up speed with every passing second only to run wild when Taehyung returned, his smile big enough to light up the entire room.
[89] Maybe parties weren’t so bad after all.

[1] Taehyung and Yoongi had what anyone would call a tumultuous relationship. Some would go so far as to say toxic, but they were never together for long enough for anyone to voice those concerns.
[2] The reality of the matter was that they hated each other. Deeply. They also had sex a lot. If someone was to ask why—they did, they asked /so much/—the response would simply be ‘it’s good, why not?’ like that explained literally anything.

a #taegi au where it takes his son's birthday party for yoongi to realize maybe he's a little in love with taehyung.
[1] There were a lot of things Taehyung enjoyed about spending time with Yoongi: his sense of humour, his attentiveness, his calm and collected demeanour, his wicked sex drive. All of those things kept him coming back, kept him asking for more.
[2] At first, when they’d just been friends, Taehyung had been more than okay with that—he could experience most of those things without dating him— but once their relationship had progressed, he’d realized he couldn’t go back.
