Two weeks ago, I called for a special session to create a path to repeal Wisconsin’s 1849 criminal abortion ban.
Today is the day, and here’s what it means. 🧵
Voters deserve to have a say in Wisconsin’s abortion laws. So, I’m proposing to create a process for statewide referendums in our state through a constitutional amendment. It’s an opportunity to put important issues like abortion rights in the people’s hands.
Creating a process for statewide referendums in Wisconsin would allow voters to directly challenge the state’s criminal abortion ban that was passed in 1849 – before women even had the right to vote.
This morning, we released our new “Government For Us” agenda. Because after eight years of Scott Walker, it’s time to restore transparency and put government back to work for the people of Wisconsin.
After years of our government being used for insider games and political favors, it’s time enact tough measures to hold agencies accountable.
Wisconsinites work hard for our paychecks. We deserve a government that spends our taxpayer dollars wisely — not on extravagant plane rides or commemorative coins.
