Evin disaster according to the prisoners of Ward No. 8:
This tweet thread was written according to the words of four prisoners of Eighth Ward.
On Thursday, the 21st of Mehr, they transferred four prisoners (Mohammed Taghavi, Reza Khandan, Reza Nowrozi, Mahan Jalal Dost) from 👇

Evin to Rajai Shahr Prison, and after that the guards came to the front of Ward No. 8 and started chanting "Haider Haider" to show off their power (Haidar is the name of Shia’s first Imam (Leader)).
On the next day, Friday, after the assembly meeting in the courtyard👇👇

the prisoners started chanting in protest of the recent events and the guards’ movement the other day.
After that, on Saturday (the day of the disaster), the prisoners of Ward No. 8 were busy preparing dinner and doing their daily routine, when they heared sounds of fighting 👇

from the Ward No. 7. They went behind the windows overlooking the Ward No. 7 (the windows in the corridors of Ward No. 8 face the entrance of Ward No. 7) to see what is happening and notice that Ward No. 7 is crowded, so they start chanting. A little later, the shooting 👇

started and the prisoners of Ward No. 7 went out of the ward and into the courtyard. Some of the guys from Ward No. 8 witnessed that a large number of prisoners from Ward No. 7 climbed over the wall of Ward No. 340 and got shot and fell. There was even shooting at Ward No. 8,👇

and one of the prisoners who was watching the situation from behind the window was shot in the shoulder and the bullet even passed right through his body!
The prisoners of Ward No. 7 started to light fire in the compound because of the tear gas and its effects, and the smoke👇

and tear gas from it came into Ward No. 8, and the prisoners didn’t even have any room to breathe, so a number of the prisoners of Ward No:8 went to the courtyard and there they lit fire to remove the effect of tear gas and started chanting and some prisoners tried to open the👇

doors of the courtyard, but it did not open. They planned to go back inside the Ward again, but one of the financial prisoners (whose name I will not mention here due to legal issues that may arise) locked the door leading to the courtyard from inside to satisfy the guards,👇

so some of the prisoners got locked inside the courtyard. The guys who stayed inside the ward were also trying to open the locked doors, but with no luck. Gunshots were constantly heard and even two of the guys in the courtyard got shot with combat bullets. A large number of 👇

the guys were also shot with pellets, so that even now there are still a large number of the prisoners with pellets in their bodies that the prison’s health care wouldn’t attend to
Little by little,the sound of gunfire stopped, and the guards came inside Ward No. 8 and sat the 👇

prisoners in the courtyard on the floor, then the head of Ward No. 8, Mahmoudi, went to the courtyard and started beating the prisoners with a baton, despite the fact that the guards had the power and the prisoners were on the floor. According to the prisoners, he only hit the👇

prisoners on the head with a baton and said, "The day of your death has come and I will make your mothers mourn your death" and it was to such an extent that the special unit and the guards intervened and stopped him! Then Mahmoudi took the prisoners’ slippers and threw them👇

into the fire and burned them, and made the prisoners walk barefoot on the ground on which there was broken glass, and he continued to abuse and beat the prisoners with a baton, and constantly threatened the prisoners to death. Then he went to Ward No. 8’s Hall, damaged the 👇

hall(by removing the curtains in front of the doors of the rooms)& shouted obscenities, when one of the prisoners protested his shameless behavior, he got the prisoner out of the ward and hit him over the head constantly until they reached the security office (two floors away)👇

the prisoner has been beaten to the extent that his head has been fractured in three places and his muscles has been torn, and the vision in his left eye has reduced and he still hears a constant whistling sound!
Some of the prisoners of Ward No. 8, who were transferred to the👇

central hospital, said that they saw three vans full of dead bodies, and one of the prisoners claimed that when one of the guards was talking and reporting, he heard the death toll was between 160 and 200! However, it is never possible to obtain the exact and definitive👇

statistics of this disaster (because Ward No. 7’s prisoners are mostly common criminals who generally either live in very low-class families or have no family at all), but all the prisoners believe that the death toll is more than eight(!) people.
After this disaster, all the👇

prisoners were transferred from Ward No. 7 and 42 people from Ward No. 8 were transferred to Rajai Shahr, which I will write about later.
And the point that the prisoners of Ward No. 8 emphasized on was that this riot was in line with the recent events of the society 👇

I know that this whole series of tweets will have security consequences for me later, but I think it was necessary to write it in order to express the depth of this tragedy.
