the last and longest song on this album was born of this sort of creative fever that happens really rarely for me but is the most thrilling thing in the world—
the song is called The Burning Houses of Parliament
which is an edited reference to a series of paintings by Joseph Mallord William Turner that I know very little about but became totally infatuated with, the first titled The Burning of the Houses of Parliament (1834-5)
(3/4)
and two others, together known as The Burning of the Houses of Lords and Commons (1834).
I just want to talk a little bit about how I prefer to engage with art, why these paintings became so important to me, and how Joy ties in to the fabric of this song.
(4/4) 🍂🍁
all this is to say i’m particularly proud of that song and the context for why is fun. but also, entirely unnecessary ✔️

i put out a Baths record called Romaplasm last year that i’m still real proud of!!
i had to kill like 30 mins and i thought it’d be fun to mention some of the easter eggs (?) in it that people may have missed 😬✨

the ambient sound in the intro/outro of “Extrasolar” is a sample of a shuttle taking off. or a rocket. can’t remember. but you get it. Space
there r obvious samples of horses running in the intro/outro of “Abscond,” also mixed into the beat itself, BUT the thing i wanted to mention is that the way i edited the horse footsteps would be IMPOSSIBLE for an actual horse lol
