In between the terrible comms strategy and lay-offs there is a chance that the strategy @elonmusk is pursuing can actually #make the Twitter sphere more healthy. He might be on to something A 🧵
1/ Twitter suffers from bots and fake identities spreading hate and misinformation. By pushing for identity authentication with premium blue tag profiles and giving these accounts more bandwidth the quality of online. conversation should improve dramatically.
2/ all media and social media reliant on advertising become amplifiers of sensationalism and false news because it keeps people captivated and advertisement dollars come rolling in. By switching to a subscription model, algorithms can start focusing on quality content creators
3/ By creating this positive cycle of authenticated creators creating quality content that gets reinforced by algorithms a lot less manual content policing will be required and therefore less staff, creating a lower cost business that’s even less reliant on advertising.
4/ If @elonmusk would be pushing this vision harder rather than flaunting personal political views he could potentially get a lot of people behind this more sane and actually more liberal version of Twitter.
