Almost 10 years ago, after the massacre at Sandy Hook, I wrote a letter to my congressman, imploring him to do all he could to put an end to gun violence.
Keith’s letter acknowledged the uphill battle in a divided Congress. But he never stopped working for reform, cosponsoring numerous gun violence prevention bills and, as Progressive Caucus cochair, setting goals like an assault weapons ban and universal background checks.
As Minnesota's Attorney General, Keith has continued to fight for common sense gun safety reform — most recently, holding negligent gun sellers accountable for selling dangerous weapons to straw buyers.
His opponent, on the other hand, is endorsed by the gun lobby.
The choice for #MNAG is clear. I voted for the People’s Lawyer, @keithellison because we need him in the fight for gun violence prevention, women’s rights, consumer protections, and so much more. Make your plan to vote for Keith on or before November 8 at mnvotes.org.
(You can tell I had the letter up on my bulletin board for years — that’s why page one is so yellowed! I was proud to have Keith represent me in Congress and I’m proud to have him as Minnesota’s Attorney General.)
