(1/5) Most of the global supply chain for diagnostic reagents is in the hands of a few large companies. During the pandemic, countries were literally begging these companies to sell them what was needed to make critical life-saving COVID test kits - including Singapore... 
(2/5) That was why @AdvancedMedT set up AbAsia BioLabs to produce the life saving diagnostic reagents that we need - locally. The venture was started with @ASTARsg 's former Chief Scientist, Prof David Lane and other distinguished scientists.
(3/5) We were only able to do this by building on the reservoir of talent and capabilities locally. But this effort will not survive, if we do not support our local scientists and producers.
