If you are jumping onto #MastodonSocial this week, be aware that mentioning someone in a DM on Mastodon will automatically add them to the conversation and that the DMs are NOT private. There's is no end to end encryption.
Also if you are going to cross post between Mastodon & Twitter, always post from Twitter to Mastodon. This is b/c toots have a longer 500 characters limit and will be truncated if you post from Mastodon to Twitter.
