I’m at Rep. Elissa Slotkin’s election night event. Her campaign manager is saying we won’t know the result tonight and it’ll take time to count. She said there’s “high turnout across the board” and to wait until votes from Ingham County come in. 
She said there are still “hundreds of voters” in line on MSU’s campus, nearly an hour after the polls have closed (they can still vote since they’re in line.)

Slotkin’s campaign manager said Eaton County precinct results are in. She said Slotkin is overperforming in rural counties compared to the 2020 congressional Democratic results.

Brixie says there were over 500 students in line to register at Brody Hall at MSU. She expects record-high student voting for the gubernatorial election.

Slotkin says she has no regrets about how she ran her campaign.
She says her district has “independently-minded, split-ticket” voters and referred to one voter who she said was reading “every line” of his ballot.

“When Roe v. Wade was overturned, this state had a plan.” She’s referring to Prop 3 which would enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution.
In closing, Slotkin emphasized her campaign’s pitch, that she’ll be a principled, bipartisan member of Congress.
I caught up with Sen. Barrett earlier this morning. He was excited and said he felt momentum going in his direction for the race.
I also asked him if he’d be a bipartisan member of Congress if elected. He said governing requires working with people who have different perspectives.

He ultimately emphasized his campaign pitch as a course correction against the Democratic agenda under President Biden.
Slotkin’s campaign manager, Emma Grundhauser, says Slotkin received 55% of the vote in DeWitt township. Says the congressional dem got 48%

Grundhauser says Slotkin expanded on her vote totals in Brighton. Said she lost Brighton in 2018, won it in 2020, and has won by 8% in the city this year.
Brian Daniels is speaking now. He’s currently on Lansing City Council and is running for a full term to represent Ward 1. He thanked campaign staffers for their courage.
