Uber says workers make $37 an hour. That's a blatant lie.

We found Denver workers for Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash merely make $5.49 after expenses.

That's 35% of the city minimum wage ($15.87) &officially puts workers below the poverty line.

These corporations make $BILLIONS by stealing workers' wages.

They pass the buck to us, making workers' income dependent on individual generosity of consumers:

workers for DoorDash report that 41% of their income comes from optional tips from customers.

Unsurprisingly, these corporations disproportionately exploit workers of color:

Almost 1 in 5 workers we surveyed were Black, though only 6% of the city identifies as Black.

Other ways the gig scam cheats workers of benefits, pay &dignity on the job:

✔️31% have no health insurance
✔️1 in 5 experience violence, threats or discrimination while working
✔️59% support one dependent with these poverty wages; 23% support at least 2

Jennifer, using a pseudonym in fear of losing her job, started driving w Lyft &Uber for flexibility to take care of her ill mother

Recently, she was assaulted by a passenger

Instead of helping her, Uber locked her out of her account for a wk, depriving her of $1000+ in wages

Jennifer says, “These companies need to be better regulated. They get away with so much, and it’s unfair to their workers who need these wages to survive.”
