I'm also in the middle of creating a course for @pollen_careers that's all about building your online identity and finding work through Twitter, LinkedIn, and Slack.
Have you...shared that you're looking for work? I know this sounds obvious but I've had editors appear in my inbox after tweeting that I'm available. I've landed my favorite clients by sharing my availability!
Craft an elevator pitch for yourself. Include what you do + who you serve + why they should hire you. Include your contact information!
Your structure might look like this: Hi! I’m a freelance [title] who works with [ideal client] to solve [problem area]. Contact me at [email].
Drink some water, take a breath, and scroll through these freelance opportunities for writers, editors, and social media managers from places like Forbes Marketplace, Healthline, and Dame Products.
Disclaimer: I am not hiring, nor do I know pay rates. If you missed any of my March opportunity threads, I’ll be rounding them up soon on my @buymeacoffee. Thanks to everyone who has supported me! buymeacoffee.com/kmarford/posts
With all the discourse on here about sharing rates, I'd like to share a few resources for finding, setting, and negotiating rates:
@WhoPaysWriters is the best. If you haven't taken the time recently to add your rates (even for publications not yet listed), do it today. It takes a minute. whopayswriters.com
