Great cast, great stories, an incredible number of small moments that amplify the game's themes of not letting you past define your future and learning how to let go so people can find their own way.
This review is spoiler free, because here the journey is the destination, and I didn't want to take away from the joy and sorrow others will discover. There is another, spoiler-filled review waiting to be written about parenting at the end of the world...
... because how can you make a game about Ragnarok, during a pandemic, and not have it show up in your art? The game took four years to make — pandemic babies (like my own child!) were inevitable.
Anyway, I'll be thinking about this game for a while. Thank you to @SonySantaMonica for making it, to @markyarm for making sure non-gamers could read it, and to @laura_june for saying "sure, let's review a game!" (and to @thisiskis for letting me commandeer the TV for weeks)
