I am now able to see the meeting via the @chicityclerk website
The committee states that they’re having staff shortages on operating trains. Not a lot of hiring is being successful due to hires not wanting to pursue with the job. Many employee resignations, 4 thousand COVID cases
Committee is going over the process of the requirements of when an employee is getting hired to work with CTA
CTA helps new hires to obtain the commercial drivers license
The committee will be having surveys and days to meet up with the public to get their feedback in regards to the CTA
Alderman Taylor questioned the committee on how CTA employees should handle difficult times with customers and how should they proceed
Chairman answered that employees should be able to deescalate the situation and if it gets out of their control to call CPD (911)
$2 billion dollars has been assigned to the CTA department in COVID Relief, so far allegedly $1 billion has been used
Alderman Taylor asking CTA committee to put a mask mandate on because COVID is on the rise again, also to cleanliness slacks in the CTA department
Alderman Moore asked the chairman to grade the CTA as of today and Chairman does not have a grade for the CTA department today and believes that they’re doing a good job
Alderman also asked how many people are currently living in the transportation district and chairman is unaware of how many people are living currently being under the CTA
Alderman asked if there is live cameras monitoring when anyone /customers smokes on CTA premises and no there is no live cameras that can see if anyone smoking on CTA premises
Chicago has 1 thousand police officers patrolling the CTA system.
There is a plan of extending the Red Line more South.
Thousands of vacancies at CTA, veterans have the opportunity to apply
Meeting has adjourned at 3:17 P.M.
