Here are a few things you didn't know about the differences between therapy and coaching...
Therapy and coaching use many of the same foundational skills.

But they use these skills to help their clients achieve different outcomes.

For example...
Therapy is about helping someone function, to overcome:

• Panic attacks
• Depression
• Addiction
• Trauma

And other forms of psychopathology (aka, mental illness).
Coaching is about helping someone flourish, through:

• Optimizing their habits
• Reaching their potential
• Developing business strategies
• Creating an environment for peak performance

And other ways to level up and go further, faster.
Most coaches have zero mental health training, so they have no idea what is (and isn't) therapy.

Most therapists only know mental illness, so they have no idea how to help people flourish.

This is why some coaches think they can do therapy, and most therapists hate coaches.
Many coaches are practicing therapy without a license and don't even know it.

If you call yourself an:

• ACT coach
• ADHD coach
• Trauma coach
• Anxiety coach
• Addiction coach

You need to learn the line between therapy and coaching so you don't cross it.
Therapy is a highly regulated field.

It takes years of:

• Exams
• Supervision
• Course work
• Practicum and internship

And maintaining licensure through board-approved continuing education credits.

It took me 12+ years to become a Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
Coaching is an unregulated field.

Anyone can call themselves a coach.

You don't need any training whatsoever.

A 12-year-old could throw #lifecoach on their TikTok and call it a day.

Which is why most coaches are supremely mediocre.

But there's a huge opportunity here...
If you want to:

• Charge more than 4X what high-paid therapists make
• Stand out from the sea of mediocre coaches
• Help people flourish

There's one simple thing you can do...

You need to invest in your education to become a world-class coach.

I spent $6,569 and 6 months of my life to get a coaching certification.

You could do this, too.

Or...
If you want to learn proven skills the best coaches in the world use to charge $500/hour.

And you don't want to spend thousands of dollars and months of your life on a piece of paper.

Check out my upcoming self-paced course.

I turn 34 years old today.

I'm not going to share 34 lessons.

But here are a few I've built my life around that help me be more intentional every day and make the most of the time I have left...
When you're angry, don't say that thing you really want to say.

There's no such thing as winning an argument.

Only losing a friend.
Don't complain.

Offer a solution or shut the fuck up.

I write about the psychology of human flourishing and fulfillment.

So why am I creating a course on how to become a world-class coach?

Because I believe...
Becoming a coach helps you explore your creativity, connect with incredible people, and build a lifestyle business.

I can work 2 hours/week as a coach and make the same I did working 40 hours/week as a therapist.

What do I do with those other 38 hours?

Whatever I want.
You can use coaching skills to be a more effective:

• Content Creator
• Entrepreneur
• Educator
• Spouse
• Leader
• Parent

Because coaching is about empowering others to reach their potential.

Have you heard of the metaphor of the Stoic archer?

If you're a solopreneur or content creator, you should.

Here's why...
The archer controls:

• How much they practice.
• How accurately they aim.
• How well they string their bow.
• How deftly they calibrate every arrow.

But there's one thing they don't control...
The archer doesn't control where the arrow ultimately lands.

As soon as they release the arrow, it's out of their control.

But they can optimize everything up until that point.

When we don't trust our ability to make the right decision, it paralyzes us in place.

Here's a simple strategy to learn to trust yourself and your decision-making skills... Image
My first question is: why *don't* you trust yourself?

• Do you have Imposter Syndrome?

• Are you objectively competent enough to make an informed decision, or do you need to learn more?

• What does your track record suggest about your ability to make the right decision?
I'm a fan of evidence when it comes to reframing how we think about ourselves and our abilities:

• What evidence do you have to support the idea that your judgment sucks?

• What evidence do you have to support the idea that your judgment led to positive outcomes in the past?

My first live course:

• Generated $27,000 in a single month
• Got tons of great reviews
• Was simple to run

Here's how I made it awesome.

Steal these 6 strategies if you want to do the same:
1. Create a Minimum Viable Tech Stack:

@podia (landing page, payments, CRM)

@ConvertKit (recaps, reminders)

@Spotify (bitchin' tunes)

@circleapp (community)

@Zoom (live sessions)

@Adobe (vid editing)

@Vimeo (recordings)

@canva (assets)

You can go leaner, though.
2. Send an Onboarding Survey

Don't waste time guessing what students "might" want.

Ask them what they want.

Then build your course around their responses.

If you've ever:

• felt trapped in mediocrity
• believed you're meant for more
• wanted to build a life of purpose

Pick up The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

Here are 11 of the best insights from it:
Lesson 1: Everything, and Everyone, Has a Purpose

Trying to live up to other people’s expectations is a surefire way to misery.

Each of us has a purpose.

But it’s up to us to give ourselves permission to pursue it.
Lesson 2: Complacency Kills

Complacency kills creativity and innovation.

It lulls us into autopilot as we slowly accept a mediocre existence.

If you want to tap into your potential, stop coasting through life.
