"The takeaway: Major building blocks were set up for the next Republican gubernatorial candidate. Moving forward, the trick is to find an energetic candidate in 8 years and to have another 3rd party candidate in the election." -Brian Boquist, OR State Senator #orpol
This is from Boquist's latest email newsletter, which I rarely read as it's historically filled with partisan rants, and is a perfect example of how not to be a leader. (2)
I do find it interesting that he's openly acknowledging that Betsy was in the race as a spoiler, and that the way for Repubs to win the governor's race next time is with another spoiler.
They really can't play fair, can they? Either they are fraudulently complaining that just their specific candidates lost because of voter fraud, or they (hello, Phil) are sponsoring a 3rd candidate they know will take votes from the Dems. (4)
Boquist's "building blocks" seem pretty flimsy.
Maybe the Repubs should try honesty, and fielding candidates that aren't so far in right field that they are in outer space.(5)
But given that the best they could come up with against Ron Wyden was a Qanon fantasyland candidate, maybe it's a sign that their party is too far gone to save unless they head to the center line, and do so honestly. (6of6)
(But we all know honesty is sadly no longer a tenet of the Republican party these days.) #orpol
