2021 numbers. Incredibly similar to 2022, although a little less shooting-minded. Not the key element of his game anyway. Very creative player.
2020 numbers. Often was deployed as the DM with a back 3 or one of the two pivots in a 4-2-3-1. Despite playing deeper at times, still one of the most creative mids in the league that season
And finally 2019 numbers. Pretty much same role as 2020 I believe, one of the pivots in a 4-2-3-1. Again... that creativity....
Having Bojanić in the middle of the park to create loads, Qazaishvili down the left to progress and interplay with Bojanić, and Um Won-sang on the right to create and also score (here are their radars this season)...
Dangerous trio, striker aside!

What's the point of this? Like, this is in no way impeding the opposing team in any way. At all.
What's the point? Genuinely curious if this is just a weird thing Gwangju did, or if this might have some benefit?
Great responses, them interfering with GK's sight was my idea, but even before he ran to kick they were bent over... So it doesn't really do anything. If they stood tall until right before, it would make more sense to me
There are a few ways to possession-adjust (pAdj) metrics. In this quick thread I'll just share the differences in 2 main ways.
A quick, easy, and basic method compared to one with a Sigmoid function, like StatsBomb use as far as I know.
Here are the two, between 30% & 70% poss.
First off here's the StatsBomb article that has their formula. As far as I know, they use this sigmoid function, basically it makes the first few possession percentage points from 50% be a little more extreme, becoming less extreme as you get further away statsbomb.com/articles/socce…
So back to the pAdj graph
We can really see that function in action, just looking at the most plausible avg team possession bands, 30-70%
This is using hypothetical data, if a player had 1.5 tackles/90. Just for ease.
Starting a watch back of a lot of K League matches and I swear I love this league but one thing I find almost irritating is the insistence on subbing out the U22 players after 20-25 minutes. Not every game or every team, but so many times the young players starting get hauled off
Basically, you get 3 subs in the K League.
But if you start one U22 player, and have another on the bench, you can make 4 subs. Can then make 5 if you sub the U22 for the U22 on bench.
But if you start both U22s, can make 5 total and sub anyone in for anyone
Often you'll see two young players start and be taken off well before halftime. Some teams seem to be worse at this than others but without doing any dives into that I won't make claims.
It's a good idea, but with no minimum minutes requirement, it's poor execution
Will share a little bit of data, as I'm learning more about the team I mentioned I below that I know the least about
One of the key players for Saudi Arabia will probably be LW Salem Al-Dawsari. Here's his avg territory as well as shots & key passes in his 4 league matches
Certainly a dangerous player, and although he's got 0 goals this season (again, just 4 matches), he got 9 last season, as well as 4 assists too. 4 pre-assists (pass to the player who makes an assist) so he's really involved in the attack for his club
Also want to share someone who sounds to be very promising and has lots of high hopes. 22-year old striker Firas Al-Buraikan. Already 26 caps and 6 goals, has 4 goals in the league so far, 0.79/90'
My thoughts and reasoning behind why I think South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Ecuador could really surprise a few teams this World Cup
🇰🇷🇸🇦🇪🇨
16 of South Korea's 26-man squad for the World Cup play in leagues with March-to-Nov schedules (14 from K League)..
Think this might bode in their favor a bit. A very strong nation but with many players heading into this WC at the same relative time as UEFA players normally do
Players playing in the vast majority of UEFA leagues have had to deal with incredibly hectic schedules leading up to the world cup, whereas *most* countries with Mar-Nov schedules have essentially acted the same as Aug-to-May ones when WC is played in June/July
