This old, straight, allistic, whyte male member of parliament is telling the entire country that his "not-normal" autistic son is great. Well bully for you. How about walking the talk by INCLUDING our voices? This is inclusion 101. What's the holdup, huh?

This next old whyte man, a senator, is dropping "affected by", "living with", "challenged by" autism. We're challenged by this outdated, othering, prejudicial point of view. THIS is what's keeping us marginalized.

My national strategy? Free programs that address societally induced trauma, stigma-busting communications, incentives for employment retention at all levels in all industries. That's just off the cuff. Imagine if I actually thought about it longer than a second? Why can't they?

Anti-ableism work is akin to anti-racism work. No need to endlessly go over what needs to be done. Take the framework that exists, build on it, and make some progress. Someone ovary-up and actually do something...something NOT unilaterally harmful. #NationalAutismConference2022
