My net worth went from -$99K to +$1M in 10 years because of these 6 actions:
1. Stopped following the herd

We naturally gravitate toward the popular

When stocks go up, we want in
When real estate goes up, we want in

I started getting in when everyone else wanted out
2. Stopped letting my ego win

My hobby was shopping
I was the typical consumer

I saw a Suze Orman special where she asked a woman to choose between cash and a closet of clothes

Tracking your money in Excel may not seem like a powerful tool, but give me 2 minutes to convince you otherwise:
1. Tracking gave me clarity

I realized I was paying almost $16k in interest every year.
2. Tracking gave me motivation

With $16k going to interest every year, this was basically one-third of my take home pay at the time.

I realized I would never get wealthy if I continued to have this debt.
